well, my 1st shooting experience with this new VM Nokton:
operation: it feels just great on hand in terms of focusing and aperture adjusting etc. but the DOF is so thin, I cannot focus very well sometimes especially in the very dark SEA. to be honest I need to polish my poor skills and play with this lens more often. but once in focus, this lens is really sharp!
optics: the color is great, bokeh is creamy. very similar to the LTM Nokton I once owned. only glitch is the color aberration when fully open, which is very obvious in the above pics I just posted. but it is a very common problem for super fast lenses on digital body, even for LM lenses (e.g. the f0.95). but surprisingly my 50 yrs old prominent Nokton shows much less color aberration compared to these modern fast lenses.
short summary: I will keep this limited version, beautiful, and artistic lens. cannot wait to get my Leica M/ME to fully release the power of this baby!

I played with a chrome/brass version at a shop in Tokyo the other day. I took some shots but haven't developed the film yet. Very nice lens.

this combo looks awesome. yes this lens would be great for film 'cause no color fringe issue.

not a problem for me anyway. i shoot 99% B&W.
btw it seems Huff started the rumour about the chrome version being a limited edition.
:bsmilie: yes, steve huff said that. but according to the cosina convention, the silver/chrome ones are usually limited. who knows if they will keep producing this silver version for long. but the retro design is really beautiful. sometimes it looks too shining among my chrome lens collection.
its exactly comments like this that fuel these rumours
sure, most chrome lenses released by cosina are limited editions, but those limited editions are also advertised as such. no such advertising this time around.
anyway, its a very beautiful lens in chrome or black, limited edition or not. enjoy! i'd be very tempted too if i didn't already have four other 50s...
The silver one is NOT a limited edition.
