currently, I am looking for Digital M instead of big DSLR and I am not sure what I should get between New M8 Demo set or Used M8.2 (second-hand) as they are same price tag around 4300-4500 SGD so Please help me to choose one

Thanks Bro.... :)

If the condition is good, I will pick the 8.2. It is the better camera. Of course check the shutter count.

take the M8.2

leica is abit like car. if u buy new, u lose more money to depreciation. for M8, no point buying new

M8.2, the sapphire glass is worth it..., also the quieter shutter

Depends on your shooting style. I like to shoot wide-open with large aperture lens even in daylight. M8 has 1/8000s & often that shutter speed allows me to shoot wide-open.:)

agreed!

just start a bit confusing after think about it so let say leica like a car that mean I should get used M8 instead M8.2 as it older version or not ?

anyway I know that M8.2 is the improve version but the upgrade is worth enough to pay for it or not ? and where is the best place to get the used M8 or M8.2 ? I probably try to go BEN PHOTO or do you have any other place to recommended ?

please advise me more anyway THANKS A LOT BRO......;)

I'll go for a used M8, it's cheaper & has 1/8000s.

image quality is exactly the same - there is no difference between the both.

i prefer the faster shutter speed for wide open apertures... so M8 is the choice for me.

some people claim to prefer the quieter shutter but i think its a minor point.

this is the list of differences between m8 and m8.2.

Peninsula got sell M8. I think Alan Photo and the other used Leica shop beside Cathay got see a few M8 on display

If you trying digital RF, you can also check out Epson RD1

* A new extra-quiet, low vibration metal blade focal plane shutter with the option to re-**** the stutter at a later moment – useful to reduce noise even further
* An ultra scratch-resistant sapphire crystal cover glass for the camera monitor – the Leica M8.2 is the first professional camera to use such material
* A new snapshot mode – useful in tight reportage conditions
* A “vulcanite” finish to the camera body (black and silver versions)
* Viewfinder bright-lines (to frame subject) optimised for 2 metres (M8 is 0.7 metre)
* A more compact, faster charger
* Operational changes following user feedback

How about new frameline in M8.2 ? is it better than M8 ? if I want to use with 28mm lens because it change from M8 (0.7m) to M8.2 (2m) so it is worth or not as somebody always said new frameline is match with range of ordinary shooting.

the other improvement, I don't care about it cos it just an aesthetics.

Many Thankssssss :)

useful sharing thanks a lot, but I think alan photo don't have the used one right ?

the shops around Cathay Photo is reliable or not bro ? as I never try to deal with them actually I went there already last week and saw some M8.2 and M8 at Alex Photo, Prime and lens, Ben Photo so which shop is good to deal with them as I am not local people so I don't sure about it.

Thanks again Bro :D

Bro best is go to the shops and compare first hand with your eyes with regards to the framelines. I know ben photo has both M8 and 8.2 available, just make sure you are a sincere buyer.

In my mind if digital M there are only two choices - either a used M8 (possibly around SGD 3500) or a used M9. I will not buy a M8.2.:) The sapphire crystal and quieter shutter are not crucial in the overall scheme of things for me.

You may want to hunt around for a used M8, quite a few sets around.

Bro, one more thing that I am not sure about m8 and m8.2 is about new frameline improvement because most of users are said it's fit with the usual range same that they have in m6 so that why I am interested about m8.2 ;)
