New L lens finally!

Where is the Canon 14-24mm f2.8L wide zoom lens that is anticipated to be launching to compete with Nikon?

I posted a price comparison between Canon's MSRP to Nikkor's equivalent street price, where applicable.

EF 8-15mm f/4L USM ship in January 2011 @ $1,400

EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM ship at the end of October 2010 @ $1,500

EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM ship in December 2010 @ $7,000 (AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens $5,899.95)

EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM ship in December 2010 @ $11,000 (AF-S Nikkor 400mm f/2.8G ED VR Autofocus Lens $8,899.95)

EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM out some time in 2011 @ $? (AF-S Nikkor 500mm f/4G ED VR II Autofocus Lens $8,499.00)

The above in USD?

All prices in USD. No one has released prices for Euro or SGD.

One thing that's interesting and I find fascinating is the design of the 600 II matching so closely to the 800. Notice also that the version II L lenses are now whiter onwards second half of 2010.

impressed by the new feature in the tele lenses.

-all-new magnesium alloy construction and titanium components ensure the designs are both robust and lightweight. The EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM is the lightest lens in its class*, offering unrivalled mobility due to an incredible 28% reduction in weight (1.5KG) compared to its predecessor, while the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM offers photographers an 8% weight reduction.

-new dedicated AF algorithms and a new high-speed CPU, which offer quick and accurate focusing during shooting.

Cant wait for the review.

Be prepared to pay extra 3~4K as compare to older version.
I thought 500mm was still ok but seems they want to revise all big gun (300f2.8, 400f2.8, 500f4, 600f4).
500/600 are going to be designed very similar to 800mm.
I was hoping to see new version of 100-400, 24-70 (not exactly, current version is very sharp and overall good performer), 50mmf1.4 but oh-well they see ppl still buying it and don't feel urgency to change them.

damn... dun have 135 F1.8 IS USM MKII lol

Of the lens announced.... I am most disappointed that 50mm F1.4 has not announced a replacement with Ring USM.....

Only the 70-300mm look interesting to me, and if it is $1500..... I will consider it..... Size, weight, weather seal.... this will be a good travel lens..... pair it with a 17-40/ 24-105.... it is almost all the lens you need for travel.... ;)

I expect those to be updated after all the L lenses are updated.

In the short term my interest are the

EF 8-15mm f/4L USM
EXTENDER EF 1.4x III
EXTENDER EF 2.0x III

By 2013 I hope to have regrown two pairs of kidneys for the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM & EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM.

its under the part with Lens name & small knob on the side. refer to the 300 & 400 images...

In that case, maybe 50mm L f1.0 USM will be out!!!

In case you didn't realise, EF 50mm f/1.0 L USM was released by Canon and discontinued for a long time.

 EF 300mm f/4 IS is pretty good as it is right now. Perhaps EF 400mm f/5.6 should have a IS model to make it even more attractive and affordable. ;)
