New f2.8 nikon len coming up?

Canon already has vr for its 24mm prime lens .. sometimes i just feel like crossing over.

Do you take video alot? If not VR on 24mm dosent really matter... Anyhow...if you feel like crossing over just do it. Or you can consider Sony as well.. they have build in IS/VR in camera body meaning you can have it with any lenses you choose to mount on the camera..

They have a 24mm too..F2 and its ZEISS.

He asked for VR...does L or not matters?

That why I asking ins't really needed on 24mm f2.8 with VR or canon IS?

Then you just cross over...

In Nikon already have 24mm f1.4G and still not update on AFD type yet..

Cause sometime using on VR is really facing to stop on slow AF..

Not confused lah, sample question here.

Why Nikon don't have new lens call AFS 24mm f2.8G VR???

Because of this lens on canon have an Nikon don't have it type of lens and then what shall I do? Switch cam to canon?

oh! now i understand what u were implying.

it doesn't mean that Canon have, Nikon mux follow suit la. if u think missing such a lens is equivalent to losing an arm or a leg, then by all means switch over la. but its not that extreme, right??? :bsmilie:

but you never know. Nikon might have plans to upgrade all their D lenses such as the AF24 f2.8D, AF20 f2.8D etc.etc.

Ha ha, some stupid question here, Nikon will upgrade on every f2.8 aperture and put in VR?

For me, I knew my answer really not need, unless is the Telephoto lens such as above 100mm length.

Normally when switch on the VR and you will notice about the AF speed is really slow to compare non VR and waiting for few sec on VR stop down and capture the image.

Actually on 24mm f2.8 VR is just like getting the 24-85mm f3.5-4.5G VR and zoom to 24mm taken on f3.5 and miss up one stop aperture only.

Ok lah, just keep in forward..
And see how performance on 24 & 28mm f2.8G VR is Nikon have update...

Also good on ISO maximum reach on 1600-3200 user an the 4 stop VR can help much on lower down your ISO level.

Choosing betw. lesser weight and VR, I'll definitely choose to offload the lens and forsake the stability. Such wide angle lens, I don't see a reason to VR them. 24mm F/1.4 is quite a paper weight on its own..

That's why the wide angle lens add in VR is sound like newbie or entry user who dunno how to taken as well on night time with low light condition.

Most of time on wide angle the proper way is taken with tripod on smaller setting in aperture and taken the clear and natural night landscape.

I think Nikon's VR technology has matured to a certain extent as compared to 2007(Getting smaller, lighter and easier to incoporate) and they might be adding VR to anything f/2.8 and smaller as we can see almost all lens that are launched recently except the prime lens larger than f/2.8 have VR.

The 16-35mm f/4 is always one good example of wide angle with VR and there is also the 24-120mm f/4 and 24-85mm that was launched recently.

Nikon refreshes its lens model variation once every 5 years (there abouts) ...... the 24-70mm f/2.8 is 5 years old and is a popular mid range zoom, there is a good chance a VR version is coming once they have depleted their material for the production of the 2007 24-70mm f/2.8. ;)

Also noticed no new f/2.8 zoom releases for 2011 and this year yet.

Ha ha for me if free of distortion is much better than what I pay for VR.
