One often forgotten avenue is to rent
go take a look, prices may be more acceptable than u imagine. Also renting allows u to try out before plonking down that huge investment. I have rented from Camera rental centre and have had positive experiences.

This will mark my first M43 or rather my first interchangeable lens system.. gonna poison myself deeper..
Once i get it, i will lock myself a 7 - 7 - 49days to familiarize with this whole new world.. (though i have rented the EM5 before and love it!)

No need to lock yourself 7 - 7 - 49 days. Just get up and out and shoot to familiarize!

Wait a little bit until at least the Oly Jan announcement. rumors are there may be an EM5 ver II bundled with the 12-40mm. Again , I stress : rumors.

Definitely, any item so long as its electronics will see its price drop with time, for this lens - i'm guessing the 'prime' price should be $9xx after it really stabilizes, making it a really superbly value for money lens in MFT.

Ohhh I saw wrongly haha confused 12-50 with 12-40. Paiseh paiseh
haha ok la, no worries.
Looking at the price point of the 12-40, so far i do find it really decent and reasonable.
Comparably , i do remember the Pana 12-35/2.8 was sold at $16xx on launch and even currently, a brand new piece is still priced higher than the Oly 12-40/2.8.
