have been playing around with my d80 today.. i've realised using different modes, i have difficulties adjusting the pic i wan. wats the common mode most people use?

P - dun know how to use. seems like auto to me
M - to technical. dun know wat settings are actually right
A - always have problem with shutter speed. sometimes shutter speed to slow..
S - dun know exactly how to set the right shutter speed for the right application.

as for now, i'm adjusting shutter speed according to the amount of light i wan it to be captured on the pic. (for instance, taking a dark frame n i dun wan to use flash den i'll set the shutter speed slower to allow more light to enter hence creating a brighter pic without the flash overexposin the shot.) am i on the right track?

basicallly, i'm just doin a typical trial n error method. everything also try.. haha..

think 1st read through the manual to know the function
2nd READ READ READ and then SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT
next will be BBB haha

Truez =) In the past I use to like the Auto Mode, Now I just shot in PASM coz Auto don't allow you to take the picture that way you want it to be =)

totally agree bro.. was shooting in auto mode when using normal digicam... but after gettting such a camera, i think there isnt a need to use that mode anymore. PSAM gives u so much more room for creativity and of course more errors.. hahaha..
but with patience and sufficient practice, i guess errors can be minimized.
"i hope"

Eh, getting it at the IT show price isn't a good thing!

That's what I'm trying to say ... I saw a Nikon tripod being packed together as well. Guess so it's IT $$ :)

hahaha.. bro dun like that leh.. suddenly i feel cheated leh.. but anyway i already bought the item and happy with it.
but i think wat matters is the satisfaction u have owning the camera. price isnt really a big problem. i can get a D40 at low price but not happy to own also no use... heehee

D80 ROCKS!!!

Welcome on-board... It'll be your D80's "Captain" speking to you in the next few weeks *when you're at work, asking you out to SHOOT. Telling you he needs better "eyes", to give you better shots...*:bsmilie:

When you cave in, that's when you know the dreadful BBB virus is running through your veins...

hi all.. just got my set of D80 yesterday at alan photo. the camera is amazing.. grip is really solid. i just started photography so have yet to exploit the camera to its fullest. any tips to give from the gurus? are there any good web about photography that i should refer?
If you've got the 18-135 kit lens, remember to set the RH of your dry cabinet to between 45% and 50%. You don't want the SWM to jam up because it's too dry. I already know of 2 cases of AF-S failure for the 18-135 lens, one of them the RH is set to 43% and another is set to 44%. And for myself, my 18-200 suffered the same fate quite some time back. I have since set the RH to 48% and it (touch wood) didn't happen again.

There are many countries in the world with RH perpetually <40%. Would that become a problem for this lens in those countries?

BC:dunno:

The answer is I don't know.. My 18-200 stopped failing on me now and the only thing different is that the RH is now 48% instead of below 45% before... :dunno: I wonder if these lenses have a problem in those countries.. I'd really like to know..

Hi, anyone interested in going to this workshop? I just bought my D80 too, and a little blur too. I heard Nikon also provides such a class? Which one is better?

Is there any workshop on D80 recently? Can't seems to find it at Nikon site. Anyone one have any idea where I can lookout for this??
