Thats one big group.. why dont we all get together one day and have a shoot? Would be fun!
I think EOS Academy is fully booked till End NOV. At this point they are only touching on mode "M", "Tv", and "Av". It is really to start someone off Digital photography. Topics are like how to switch on the camera, how to play back, zoom in to see the pics and etc. You probably be spending one hour doing this basic stuff. If you have already master how to turn on the camera, preview your pics and have use some of the modes like "M", "Tv" and "Av", then your skill level is already beyond what the course is giving. They have a standard booklet cover that, so syllabus may not change much.
I will be conducting a talk on Canon System.
I have seen many newbies posting many questions under the Canon Sub-forum, asking many questions, some are general, some are specific, some are 'brainless', etc. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you my experience with Canon System for the past 10 years.
Of course, I am not a Master, but rather a photographer who is constantly learning and upgrading.
Newbies under the following catergories :
1) PnS Users
2) PnS Users intending to upgrade to DSLR
3) DLSR Users
If you are not a newbie, I would suggest that you give it a miss since this is going to waste your time.
Topics cover :

4) Hot debate on IS vs non-IS

There is a big misconception about this EOS Academy. Perhaps the OP, the person liasing with Canon and even those who has participated in the program before, did not clearly explained about the objective of this workshop.
1) EOS Academy is meant for those who have not purchased or used a DSLR camera before. The true uniqueness of this program is the Academy has 20 units of EOS400D/350d with kit lens for the participants to use during the workshop, from theory to practical session. That means you have ample practical hands on with an EOS DSLR.
2) If you already owned a Canon EOS DSLR, you can still participate, provided you are an absolute beginner. If you have already attended the Basic DSLR Training with Canon Digital Lab, then again you do not need to participate in this Academy.
As for the rest of you, if you think you do not fall in the above category, you might want to seriously reconsider.

As for the word "brainless", I am not targetting at anyone, it is just a sweeping remark but seems that it has affected some parties concerned. As such, I would like to apologise for that.
