New Canon Workshop

Canon had replied, here's the syllabus:

1) Getting Expose to Photography
- Understanding Exposure, Aperture and Shutter Speeds

2) Getting Up to Speed
- Understanding Metering and ISO Speed

3) Using Multiple Focusing Points and Al Servo

4) Understanding Quality and Image Size Settings

5) Different Modes of Metering

6) Exposure Compensation

7) Understanding Colour Temperature

8) How to expand you lens collection

9) Learn the rules of composition for the most impact

10) Maintaining Your Camera and Lenses




Workshops are conducted on weekdays only.
Duration will be at least 4 hours.
Maximum number of participants is 25.
It will be held at Canon Digital Lab at HarbourFront.

Canon is only available after October at the moment as they are fully
booked for Sep and Oct.


I had suggested 6.30 - 10.30pm slot on the 9th and 16th of Nov , awaiting confirming from Canon

There's a training from canon for new owners, and there are other canon users groups/forums too. The idea of this thread, from the starter, I guess is to take part in the available new workshop. So I think we should continue with this, pending confirmation of timing, dates from canon.

It will be great if canon can organise some advance training on top of this basically basic workshop.

How about someone find out what's in the workshop contents? I think it's covering the really basic stuff such as aperture and shutter-speed and composition etc. Not really suitable if you're looking for more advanced topics...

Gone through their workshop liao, think you can also check with others who has gone through it. It is more like how to use EOS 350D/400D. How to change ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed and etc.

The Basic Photography Workshop will cover the following:

1) Getting Expose to Photography

4) Understanding Quality and Image Size Settings

5) Different Modes of Metering

8) How to expand you lens collection

9) Learn the rules of composition for the most impact

10) Maintaining Your Camera and Lenses

The duration of such a workshop will be at least 3 hours or more.
In addition to the theory lessons, there will be a practical shooting
session where participants will be given an opportunity to use Canon's
DSLR.

It is really for real beginners...if you already have some experience you probably get really bored!

if you already know the basic, dont need to join.
Already attended with my students, is very good for those that just get a DSLR camera and want to explore and to fully utilised your DSLR.

One thing to take note, dont expect that you will become a expert after attending the 3 hours course. You will know how to control apperture,shutter speed and ISO well enough to take a reasonable good photo if you manage to catch everything in 3hours and that depends on individual.
