If this is true then how can people modify EF-S lenses to fit to FF cameras by just removing the plastic back? The examples are even described here in CS board.

In theory, 500D(if it even comes true) should be priced lower than a 50D.... As for the 40D, currrently, Canon still selling those... So, if they were indeed going to launch the 500D with the speculated features, I think they will drop the 40D out of their product range first. Price wise, u can take the launch price of the 450D as ref, But add like maybe 10% or so to account for the strong Japanese Yen in recent months....

New Rebel series will be always priced between 1200-1400 when they are launched, and definitely sits between their lowest end model (like 1000D or 400D when 450D was launched) and their mid-range like 40D/50D.

Their pricing strategy against N-brand is also always a bit higher than their lowest model (D60) and lower than their mid-range (D90).

So I will forsee should be the range like RRP 1399-1499 with kit lens.
