Finally $4k for 4k. Bring it on!

Basically fked all their early adopters real hard. I heard some of the Pre orders still not fulfilled yet. Pity.

Pls give us the ability to 'delete' files from the SSD. Such a simple thing also cannot fix.

Lets wait and see, no rushing into it anymore.

*saw someone in b&s get rid of 2pcs 2 weeks ago. Must have gotten news internally.

I waited since last broadcast asia, got fed up of waiting and cancelled the order just last month...guess I'm not regretting my decision to cancel order. :)
I'm guessing the new pocket cam will only be available next NAB.... hehehhehe...

Bro, that 'someone' is me lah
The V1 BMCC is as good as it is for USD3K. By the time BM release the 4K, I'm sure you will probably make the money back from the camera.
BM will say the 4K BMCC will be ready by summer but seriously the question is which summer? 2013 or 2015 summer?
Anyway, the current EF mount BMCC is still a good deal. Just look at all the stunning footage shot online. Anyway, I still shooting with my EF mount BMCC, I really dig it.

any tool is a good tool if you know how to use it. :) Don't need to be too caught up with new technology.

Probably we'll be able to see and touch the BMCC pocket cam and 4k cam in Broadcast Asia 2013.
Talking about Broadcast Asia, it's getting worse every year, more like pasar malam nowadays.

Anyone of you guys edited in 4K RAW? I've not tried it before.

On a Mac, what specs do you think is the minimal ?

Interested in the pocket cam.

A newbie in video. Can advise what are the main winning point over the still camera platform.

Currently using the omd for casual video

Winning points:
RAW video capture. All the information from the sensor is captured without compression. Great for color grading.
Option of ProRes. For FCP user, shooting native Prores saves some time transcoding.
13 stop dynamic range. More filmic look.
Mic and phones ports.

Limitations:
The BMD pocket camera has a 16mm sensor - even smaller than the original BMD cinema camera.
Extreme crop factor almost 3x makes it difficult to find wide angle lenses.
Low light performance is compromised.
Built in SD card. Can't put in a new one.
Built in battery (one hour). Impossible to use in the field without external battery power.
The size advantage is negated because you can't really shoot without a ton of gear attached to it.

Battery on the BMPCC is removable ;p

ayuready, if you're unfamiliar with cinema cameras, you may want to note the file sizes:

Lossless CinemaDNG RAW: 30mins (128GB card) or 7.5mins (32GB card)
Apple ProRes 422 (HQ): 70-80mins (128GB card) or 18-20 mins (32GB card)

My bad. Glad to see the battery IS replaceable. For the price, it is meant to get people dabbling into RAW territory. Not really a practical camera in the long run, I feel.

Hi bro, thanks a lot for the quick run down.

Seems like I do not need such a camera as my skills both cinematic, technical and editing are way below to be able to make use of the features.

Will continue playing more with my omd for now, until I have a better understanding of video as a whole.

Not many people will admit to their technical level like you have just did, but at least you made the wiser choice of not jumping in too soon.

Too many people tend to jump on trend wagons without fully utilising their equipment so keep using your OMD until it breaks!

Keep learning!

I don't like the 3x crop factor of the pocket version. It should have been 2x like the first generation.

Haha no issues about admitting it.

But I think I found more fun having videography then still recently. Think because I can visualise better in motion than in a frozen frame.

But still at an very early phase of wanting To try a lot of things.

Hahaha

Just use the metabones speedboaster and that will solve ya problem. 12-35 f2.8 + metabones = 24-70 f2.0. Best range best speed.

I'm just not so sure about the iso that max out at 800. Cause used to my 5d3 that sometimes I go to 1600-3200.

m43 to m43 speed booster? You're dreaming.

The sensor is so small everything above ISO 800 would look like it's snowing. ;)
