New audio gear for dual system safety recording

i was looking at the Shure. More lightweight and compact. haha... But competition is good!

hi guys I heard the tascam dr60, sounds excellent in every aspect but what got me was 2 things -the gain controls turn with clicking sounds which can be heard in the audio recording, instead of smooth turning controls . the other is the crappy battery life. may wanna research on these before plonking your $$$ on it.

Thanks! Noisy volume dial is a definite dealbreaker! 50% price slash is too good to be true.

Pro:
Lower price than beachtek or Juicedlink options to perform the same function
4 tracks of audio recording provides a lot of selection
Large knobs with an easy to use interface
AA batteries instead of less common 9 volt batteries
Very good audio quality even at high gain settings
Provides Phantom power
Has a plethora of audio interface options

Con:
No neck strap or memory card included in the kit
Volume knobs are rotary encoders instead of potentiometers which can cause clicking
Battery life with 4 AA batteries is only about 3 hours
The unit is large (about the size of a t2i body)
