New Alternative to DJI Phantom?

Found an alternative website selling for USD 399

I'm very sure this is a clone and meant for hobby flying ...

Since you are posting it in a aerial forum, I guess u are look at an aerial photo/video alternative?

i'm gona say its NOT gona work for shoot aerials for sure ... The stability of the phantom Naza is the key ... Not the equipment itself that allows you to shoot proper aerial footage.

Anyways, Phantoms are discounted USD$150 now ... Go grab them cause its only a little more than this clone here.

As a copy, its very nice. But for that price, too ex even with the FC that is comparable to Naza. Phantom will be better IMO.

oh, i am looking at a fun alternative... haha.

i only found the dji at usd 399 also. care to share where it is usd 150? thanks!

You can get it locally too....

http://shop.rotor.com.sg/show-detail.asp?prodid={4BF90208-6536-4ABD-A83E-9C49691D1A8F}&pn=1#.UkW1Z3D4JnY
SGD 570 or SGD 518.40 cash or Nets

Or the Blade 350QX
http://radiocontrol-sports.com/blade-350-qx-rtf-with-safe-technology.html
SGD 628.61

Alternatively if you still want to get a Phantom v1.2, they are on offer and the cheapest I've found locally so far is this.

http://www.jethobby.com.sg/cgi-bin/ezsite/prod/manager.cgi?action=show&pid=3318
SGD 670

All 3 have their pros and cons and their own set of problems as well (Phantom / Naza M flyaways, Blade 350 Props breaking etc)....but if you want to use it for AP, i'll say stick to the Phantom. For fun flights, get the Blade. For the cheapest, get the Walkera.

Anyone got from jet hobby before? As the price seems rather cheap as compared to the rest.

I know a group of acro quad flyers regularly get their stuff from Jet Hobby so should be all right.

Hi guys,

The dji phantom look tempting.

Was told a new version coming out. Anyone know if the new version are worth the extra money ???

Also what else is required for steady looking footage ? Gimbal? Can change the angle in mid air one ?

Thanks for all advice rendered.

Yeah bro but after reading I think I am likely to go for the current phantom.

Any one can advised what is required to get fpv plug and play and also recommended gimbal for gopro 3?

Will be good if got local shop that can offer one stop solution.

Have you any experience in flying?
Sure you can get it up in anyway you prefer. But just in case you bump it around and total loss will be a heartache thing. Not to mention down time..

Fly without FPV first. FPV is not for beginners. It take some getting use to.

If you need more info, Singapore Hobby at Fook Hai is one great source for the chassis, radio, ground station, electronics and whatever info you need to know. Zone 5 Hobby next door also deal with MR.

Checkout Daddy Hobby Forum and RCGroups forum for reliable electronic brands for FPV gears. Some have preferences so it's an individual thing.

Boss thanks a lot for the detailed guide and reference and also the advices.

The fpv is not so much for flying far and fast but for me to frame the video as most likely will use this for filming.
Will pay the shops a visit nearer to my birthday heheh getting it as my own present !

Here's our preference.
Immersion RC or Eagle Tree Systems 5.8Ghz 600mW transmitter.

An equivalent brand 5.8Ghz receiver on the ground. It can be a single antenna or diversity antenna receiver. The latter cost a lot more and probably more apt putting in an antenna tracker.

Hook the receiver module to a 7" monitor which is pretty common. Use that first to fly. The same receiver can also send video signal to your FPV goggle when you purchase one later.

Yeah. They seem to answer what the consumer wants.

I did a research on the Phantom and decided to go with the version one. The "Vision" version looks very nice and have longer flight time. But for usable video footages, the Phantom version 1.2 together with the Zenmuse provides a much more stable platform. The Phantom Vision only has one axis of stabilisation while the Zenmuse has 2 axis. The wifi way of FPV has limited range and sometimes "hang", as compared to a FPV which operates at the 5.8Ghz freq.

Also if at the end of the day, if I get tired of the phantom form factor, I can just buy a new platform and transfer all the current electronics over without much lost in my investment :) May be I just have to upgrade the ESC and the motors.

I just bought the Walkera X350 from rotor.com.sg :)

not too bad. Quite fun. Upgraded my firmware and decided to fly outside my place. Just taking off and landing :)

Taking off is seems easier after the firmware upgrade and tuning the trim. Previouly in the shop, the plane drift like crazy. Now the plane barely drift during take off. Controlling the altitude is a bit tough though.

Landing is a bit tough as you tend to want to kill throttle too fast which make the craft drop like a brick....
