[Need to vent] Some appalling standard of wedding photographers...

Actually, the comment came from the wedding planner and he apologised profusely for the quality of work when he reviewed the shots midway. I can't do anything as I'm a guest and my job is to eat and give Hong Baos. In my mind I told myself that if I had a hand in it, I would have got you guys but who am I to be meddlesome.

So the fault might lie with the wedding planner or the original photographer?

It seems the original photographer didnt vet thru his/her recommendations, thus entrusting an important job to a Guy/Gal With Camera (GWC), hence resulting in this uneventful situation.

Problem is I'm an avid photographer myself and I have great admiration for wedding photographers.

The groom also happens to be my distant cousin's grandson (My old friend turns out to be my family's long lost relative when we traced our roots not too long ago-just to make a long story short) . BTW I 89 in case you're wondering.

The photographer was hired by the wedding planner for tea ceremony but not dinner. But on the eve of wedding, couple decided to have the photographer's service to complement the videographer. The photographer declined the dinner job as he was committed to other projects and hence recommended another stand-in photographer. That's why there was a separate price.

I'm standing on the turf of "customer" and wonder why pay so much to get so little. We (relatives) were asking what happened? But I guess what's done is done.

Woah...u does sound pretty agitated to be 89 though. anyway, i dun see an issue here. the decision to hire the lady photographer was based on ur friends' judgement. And if blames are to be put on the photographer, ur friends will need to shoulder half of it themselves unless they are seriously being misled.

furthermore $6.5k is an amazing sum to pay for such services and i do have my doubts on the assignment. I highly suspect the lady photographer (if she exist) is doing it for free or just for a token.

What done is done but maybe can still do something.. not in the line of retaking the pictures of coz..

i say...before you jump to any conclusion of the photog, ask your friend to show you the end result. i am sure many of us will be curious too.

One of my friend's wedding, the wedding shop send a newbies who know nothing on iso and aperture. And It was a paid packages.

Just use auto mode... fix on the flash and start shooting

impress them with those big reflector and some pic will turn out good with a little bit of luck!

I think HW maybe can enlighten us some more, you mention that 4k for dinner, 2.5k for tea ceremony, so it this case the standby photographer is charging more than the main photographer? and the price given is what the photographer charged? does it include the videography package as well?

My guess is it is the cost of the wedding planner! The money goes to the planner and not the poor girl. She was probably paid 6.5 per hour for using her camera and time :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

That's the problem with fickle minded couples nowadays. One moment want. Next moment don't want. Wedding planner got big headache changing theme and changing layout and we old folks only mumble in the background. What to do? Smart Alec here also cannot do anything cos not my son leh.
