Hi,
Just ask whether if my friend from US help me buy a lens there for around 600USD, then send it to Singapore by post , do I have to pay any tax for it ? let say 7% GST or any import tax ?

Thanks ,

Harry

Customs are quite sharp. Even if it's declared as a gift they may have calculated GST already.

Best to be prepared to pay the 7%. That's usually all the additional cost you have to pay.

Import any items with value S$400 or greater and pay 7% GST.
Customs will know the real value in case you will insure your item, and if you don't insure then damaged items are not good for you right?
