Need some info on Slik

Hi all, was thkin of gettin a Slik tripod. Looking at Pro 330 DX & Pro 340 DX.

1) Rough guide on pricing of both?
2) Usually comes wif a tripod bag or hav 2purchase seperately?
3) Apart frm diff like 340 has 4 leg sections while 330 has 3 leg sections,
any othr stark diff?
4) Anyone out ther who is using/ has used either models, and also were also once deciding btwn the 2 models pls do share what made you choose one model over the other?

the main diff, in fact seems 340 height extension is shorter?

1) pricing is around S$120 to S$130
2) both does not come with tripod bag or strap
3) practically nothing different except the extended height and folded height
4) i choose 330dx becos i don quite trust 4section tripod to be as stable as 3 :bsmilie:

I got the 330 as well. basically chose it cause its a 3 section one. Serving well for mobility(althoug not super light).

1. 340 is about $135 and i bought my 330 at $122 with free Optech tripod strap from Cathay. Think they had the promotion a while ago.

2. Tripod bag not included. But as i mentioned, i got my 330 with a free Optech strap. You can check if the promotion is still on.

3. Everything else is the same besides the leg sections. However, due to the difference in leg sections, the 330 seemed more stable to me when i was trying both out at the shop.

4. Well, since the 330 was more stable AND was on promotion when i bought it, i naturally chose the 330. Both are equally compact when closed, the 330 being about 10cm longer than the 340 and the weight difference is negligible. i would say go for the 330. AND get a ballhead to go with it. The supplied pan and tilt head is a pain to use. But that's only one man's opinion. =)

115 at MS colors for the 330.

Good and light for use. But its 10cm longer then 340 as mentioned. So depends on what you need. For travel, you will appreciate the shorter 340 for portability.

However, as mentioned, do get a ballhead if you can to go along.

2) i bought a slik bag for $12. will prob change the bag to a better padded one.
3) the 330dx is more stable definitely.
4) i chose it for its increased stability. plus it's $10+ cheaper.

Any suggestions on tripod bags?

might wan to look out for manfrotto ones like those for 190 series, since the size are pretty near. its padded but the price is quite steep to me

I am using the Safrotto one with my Slik Pro400DX. It's padded, quite well made and costs abt $40 from TCW.

You probably need a smaller one for a 330dx, so it will be slightly cheaper.

I have the Slik 330dx. Buy your padded tripod bag from TCW. I got the Sanfrotto from them, for 65cm one. Think is $3x. You might want to get a better padded strap for the tripod bag though, after putting a thicker pad, could carry it cross sling up and down labrador park without problems .

I bought the Giottos ball head for the Slik330 though
