dear all.... i'm a newbie here... looking to own my first RF....

i've looked thru and is overwhelmed by the amount of detailed information... trying to digest them now...

i'm looking at a 2nd hand camera abt SGD$150 with lens..... i would like some manual functions so i can play ard and explore the effects...

any recommendations????

and what should i look out for when i buy 1?? like what kind of wear and tear.... or tell tale signs that its not going to work properly...

thanks in advance....

The usual suspects:
- Yashica GSN (nice lens but a tad large)
- Ricoh 500
- Canonet

There will be others that I've not listed out, but your these shoudl fit within your budget. You could also consider a used film slr if you want to 'explore the effects'.
A clean Oly OM body would fit within your budget, and the zuiko lenses are very well regarded.

thanks rangefinder_fan...

i did pick up a used SLR frm this forum!!! it an old Minolta Dyna 505si...... and it looks like new!!!!!!!!!!! although i've yet to figure out what are the dials and stuff are for... i'm excited to have something on my hands now...

HONESTLY... i have totally NO idea what a RF does or how it works... i just like the old vintage look of the cameras esp the yashica... and of cos i love the fact that it uses film....

i heard the RF focus's a little diff frm SLR.... i'm not sure how... guess i'll have to figure it out... i've seen many selling the yashica's online and in the forum.. but have also seen many scary stories abt the POD problems....

but meanwhile.. i think i'll have to figure out wat teh different apetures and shutter speeds does...

There are lots of resources available online that teach you the relationship between aperture, shutter, film speed etc, so you should just google to learn before 'whacking'.
You could just keep on shooting, but without a knowledge of the basics, I dont know how quickly you'll progress.
It isnt as complex as you think. 80% of my cameras do not have meters, but maybe thats more of a testament to film's wide exposure latitude...
