hey, guys need a little input about tripods, the part i know least for photography...
okay, currently i'm using the manfrotto 190 pro and manfrotto 486rc2 ball head which i bought a year ago simply from the recommendation of the cathay photo guy and so far it's been great.

well, now recently i think i've lost the quick release plate, so there's no way i could attach the camera to the tripod anyway, so i went to marina square cp just now to buy the release plate but was told that it's out of stock. it was then that i saw the giottos ball head on offer, u.p. $200 selling at $90 and well i thought it's a steal so i bought it. i asked the person whether or not will it be compatible with my manfrotto 190 and he said yes.

so i got home happily thinking i got myself a new ball head and all just to find out later that i found no way in connecting them : / the tripod and the ball head

oh yeah, i got the mh 1000-300, again, i have no knowledge whatsoever about this tripod stuff and had just bought it on impulse.

i'm leaving singapore this thursday to KL then will be to Indonesia and i know that i need a tripod badly. any recommendation on what should i do ?
i don't mind spending some ~$150 getting a new lightweight tripod for the travel

You can buy Benro A250EX with ballhead and bag at Peninsula SC at Ben Photo iirc. I bought mine there for about $150, it's a little almost 1 kg and can stand up to 2.5 kg. but the seller told me can be used for up to 4 kg. It has spirit bubles and also a compass...

as far as i can remember, the giottos should fit with manfrotto as both use the 3/8" screw.
