Need Help in Lenses for NEX 5N & some other issues

i meant the Samyung fish eye, not the remote. haha! :bsmilie: just ordered the remote from the ebay link tsammyc posted! don't know when it'll arrive though.

anyhow, didn't give these a second look until you posted it up! the first pink pouch looks quite appealing! haha! better than my ugly bronze colored case.

thanks man! wah, looks like i've to make a trip down to sony store and crumpler sooon!!

oh. The Fisheye for E-mount isn't out yet.

best to head to Orchard. There's a Crumpler store at ION and Sony Store at Wisma Atria

yup. there's no news on that lens yet. most probably late this year.

Also you might wanna get another Memory card if the current one is not enough. i saw the other day, that they just released faster memory cards

what faster memory cards? i got so many memory cards I kinda lost count. but i think they're not that fast, except the one inside my camera now. Sandisc something. Class 10 i think. i cannot remember!! (need to go back and check!)

i think i should get the adapter for the ipad so I can upload the photos to the ipad in case the memory card goes haywire. really afraid I lose my pictures!!

anyhow, WHY IS THE VIEWFINDER SO DARN EXPENSIVE?! i checked Cathay photos $450. :what:.
any lobang you all have?

getting the wide angle converter, and the viewfinder, and lens case n prolly a new camera case.

 !

The MS pro duo ones are fast. Alternatively San disk extreme cards. But a class 10 will do for most people, really. Dirt cheap as well. Unless you like to machine gun a lot, and need to clear the camera buffer asap.

One of the reasons I bought the nex 7. Ended up didn't sell the 5n, let my mum use instead.
5n is still usable in bright sunlight, just set the brightness to manual +2. Or the sunny mode (forgot what it's called).

Remember to shoot more photos before your holiday, and get to know the camera/lenses (assuming you are a beginner like myself.) I find that during holidays I have the SEL18200 on my camera most of the time.
If you want you can check out some photos I took in China/Sydney while on vaction on my flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tylclement/

I've the Sandisc ultra 30mb/s, class 6! Is that fast? Before this I got the stupid Kingston, very lag, acting as a backup memory card for me now.

OH! the MS duo pro are fast? Read online that they're not as fast as the Sandisc so I stopped using the MS duo pro.

Shall do some testing these few days!

OH YES. I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THE SUNNY MODE. I tried that once, and then I could see it in bright light! Shall try and see if that's good enough. Hoping I won't need to get the overly expensive viewfinder. $450 can buy me loads of other stuff!

Anyhow, nice photos on flickr!! specially like the sydney photos and the macro!

Sandisk extreme cards are faster on computers or cameras with uhs-1 compatability. But for our Nex cameras, both are the same. Sandisk cards have the benefit of easier to use with card readers also. Memory stick is a dying format, so better to buy SD. (even though I got 2 of them now.. haha).
If you want to cut cost, the slowest sandisk extreme pro should be more than enough. You can test for yourself. Shoot in speed priority until the buffer fills up, then quickly release the shutter button. Look at the red light below and see how long it takes to go off. That is the speed of your card.

Feel free to correct me if I've mistaken.

Kingston is pretty poor for a memory card.

get SD cards if you want more compatibility with other cameras. for me, i have a mix of MS and SD cards.

also, the Sunny mode increases the gain on the screen. makes it more pixellated. in fact, i won't buy the EVF if i were you. if you're not the type to compose a shot through a viewfinder, the EVF will be useless to you. just some money better spent elsewhere, like donating it to me so i can buy my X-pro1

tried it!! and boy, the ultra is quite slow! the red light didn't go off for quite some time.

yes! Kingston is BAD. the salesperson still can tell me Kingston not bad ah, all sorts of nonsense.

it's more pixellated on sunny mode? didn't know that!

anyhow, before my oh so beloved 5N, I was using a Nikon slr. I kinda like composing my shots using a viewfinder, but the screen on the 5N is just more convenient. AND I LOVE HOW THE 5N IS SO MUCH LIGHTER THAN THE DSLR! I won't have to carry a whole ton on my shoulders with my camera + my MANY other stuff in my shopping bag!

after speaking to soooo many people about the EVF, I've DECIDED. :bsmilie: I'll save the $450 and wait for the fisheye to be released! ;)

The Xpro1 looks SO big compared to the NEX7! Review after you buy hoh!! (without my donation. :bsmilie::bsmilie:)

Yea... the X-pro1 is huge. but has a fantastic sensor and fantastic lenses. i come from a Fuji background.

but why... you donation would mean so much to a barista like me.

Same with me desiree8, i used to have a canon 60d slr but now i have a 5N and my photography has been more convenient. No more bulky & heavy equipment plus i carry a smaller bag that can fit an extra lens.
Btw, the x1 pro has a super annoying flaw, after it achieved focus it will freeze the frame for a few seconds therefore you will not be able to see whats happening in your scene. Unlike the nex, since it does not freeze the frame, after you achieve focus you can just hold focus then fire at the right moment to capture the shot.

The remote controls, you can get from ebay. I bought mine for about $5 shipped, but I'm not sure if it is this store. Looks identical and works.

IR Wireless Remote Control For Sony NEX-5/NEX-5C/NEX-5N/SLT-A33/SLT-A55V DC45 | eBay

I did a whole 2 week Japan trip with my NEX and a single pancake lens (manual focus Pentax 40mm pancake). Put it around my neck or in my jacket pocket. It was liberating.

Now, if I were to bring a single lens for the whole trip, it would be the CZ 24mm 1.8. It's the sharpest of Sony's emounts. Can take landscapes well (if you're not too picky about distortion) and focuses down to 6 inches so you can even shoot food. It's great for street. A little wide for general purpose use, but you can always move closer. If that is too expensive, try the Sigma 19mm or 30mm. They don't focus as close, but are more compact and easier to get into a jacket pocket.

Hey tsammyc! The wireless remote finally reached me! And it's working fine! Soooo glad I got it! Might get another one just in case my current one goes haywire! Thanks again!
