Hey, I'm a noob too..

Generally speaking, the only "help" that I can provide you is to learn the "Aperture priority" mode first.

Play around and try to understand how the size of the aperture affects your shutter speed and the resulting image.

I shot cans of cokes before understanding what it does.

Once you understand, or roughly, you will somehow understand how to use the Manual mode.

Place 2 or 3 objects at different distances from camera and keep focus on 1 of them. Adjust the aperture value in Aperture-Priority mode and then take a photo, and see how the other 3 cans become more or less in focus.
