Dunno how I missed this thread.

Stunning !!! Absolutely fantastic photos.

And people complain about their 400D and kit lens ;p

Next time I hear any complaints, I will show them your photos.
Great job, bro.

I will bug you for details of your trip. ;)

I did Nepal when I was a kid, but that was quite tame. Want to go there again.

Thanks.. I rem zoossh once told me something like that when I was taking my pics with my ixus cam.. real encouragement..

I'm quite happy with my basic though with everyone lugging big lens and body.. I'm kinda jealous.. will brush up my photography skills first before moving on to acquiring lens and improving on post-processing. I still suck at photoshop. Dunno how to put the watermark thingy.

Eh.. what do u mean by "when I was a kid"... How old r u now?? (no offence;p ) It was rather tame last yr too..despite all the political probs... Dun think I'll be back anytime soon. Maybe 7 years later... There are still so many parts of the world I would like to see... before they either sink, or hv no snow due to global warming... sigh....

Thanks Jiven for sharing. Reviving this thread again ;)

Old enough to go through a mid-life crisis :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

I just went to Kathmandu. All I remember is the Pashupatinath temple and I was kinda shocked to see a bull's head - after it was sacrified - with all the blood dripping being carried near the temple. Quite gory stuff. And Janakpuri (the place where Sita was born).

Keep shooting. You have a good eye.

Yeah, so many places in the world to travel to, before mankind destroys it all.

Your pictures are juz so beautiful. Love to view them.

Thanks guys... Will be posting more.. slowly ah... cos busy.. keke..

your series is mature, delicate and consistent. i find familiarity in your pictures because you also like warm mellow tones too. nothing strikes me as over saturated or over contrasted. details are full in all 3 areas of exposure. i love #43 the most, not becos of its technicality, but it requires a delicate eye to see these flowers in perspective. the person although chopped off on the top, have had long shadows, so that is good and add to the picture.

but i would like to bring attention and discussion to pic 40 about your shooting techniques, e.g. standing distance/angle, focal length, exposure settings (ap/shutt.duration/iso), equipments (lens/filters) and the lighting condition.

for #40, unlike #44, the diffusion is less gradual and more abrupt in the corners, with many diffused out of focus like blotches. i'm just wondering if that is achieved by narrow depth of field with large aperture in tele focal length, or simply due to the low sun & its diffused light? or could it be due to added effects with vaseline stained filters or post processed effects? dun worry if the latter, i never thought filter and post processing effects are wrong, as long as they are well done.

oh, i did? but anyway i think your photos are really good, and probably you can be my shifu soon at the rocket rate you are leaping. the only thing is that your focal range is still limited and thus the angle of view is less varied. but that isn't any problems except for variety that's all.

good pictures are worth waiting for. your next trip in jun?

1. find the "T" icon and click on it for text function
2. insert accordingly on the picture, type and change the font and size
3. go "opacity" on the layer palette on the right, and key in a percentage. faint effect from 5-40%, stronger opacity from 40-80%.

wonderful pictures!..really bring out the feeling of being in nepal!!:thumbsup:

Beautiful Nepal series. Very nice !

Oh.. the blotches were a result of the blur function in Mac.. i jus tried it for fun. tot the scene looks kinda out of this world .. very hobbit like so made it blurry at the sides for fun.. oops..

I'm trying out diff angles of view.. top down, fr sides, fr bottom, fr far, fr near.. how else to add variety.. i do want to know.. appreciate it.. also, is focal range limited by my lens? cos i only hv kit and 50mm f1.8... does that mean i need to buy more lens?

jun.. maybe to amsterdam.. (maybe... keeping my fingers cross:sweat: depending on work)

thanks for the tip on watermark.. actually i aredi know that but i'm trying to create a design for my watermark.. that's the tough part.

no worries, they are well done.

eh no, i dun mean shooting the subject from different angles, i can see you are doing that. i mean having lens with different focal length gives different "angle of view" which is a specific term. and i meant the range of focal length.

for example, a wide angle lens of 10-20mm, you do shoot a wider angle of view by the following principle.

wah, going to spend a lot.

you want to come up with a symbol or something?

here's two example of super wide angle (wide angle of view) applied on close distance (to people) and on far distance (to scenaries).
