Good stuff! Love this one!:thumbsup:

Hey Dura77! Thanks for your support, glad you like it :D Not exactly a comfortable shot to take haha. The water is about thigh-level deep and I had to shoot at 16mm heh~

Stillness

Organised a photography trip to Bali last week, it went pretty awesome! My first time organising a photography trip and my first time to Bali as well heehee. Love the friendly locals and a nice refreshing change of scenery from Singapore. Am very glad that we were blessed with great weather for the entire trip... really couldn't ask for more.

I know this isn't a landscape but I don't feel like creating a new thread just for one photo heh. Took me awhile to find this place and was surprised that you need to get pretty wet in order to get a shot off

Witness

One of the very rare times I love the vignette of a 10 stop ND.

Awakening

An already complicated shot complicated even further by the fact that it was slightly blurred. The sun and ray came out suddenly, leaving us rushing to setup our tripod when we were all ready for breakfast. It was a severe misjudgement on my part to call for pack up. This was supposed to be an exposure test shot, but I think we are all well aware that the sun waits for no one... so by the time I got the settings right, the ray was already gone hence I'm stuck with the exposure test shot heh.

Luckily, it was only slightly blurred so it was still somewhat savable in post processing. But I couldn't get the texture that I was looking for in the temple, which requires a perfectly sharp photo. Perhaps one day I'll acquire the skills needed to recover it perfectly, but until that day comes, this will do :)

From a Distance

We went back to our villa (Munduk Moding Plantation) early on the second day in preparation for our night shoot. As I had to settle some stuff with the front desk, a friend and I went ahead first (apparently the most expensive accommodation I ever stayed has only 1 buggy lol. The villa is $700/night.). I went to the common pool area and was dismayed to find that it was one of those days that was completely overcast and foggy hence there wasn't much of a sunset seen. I asked the chef who happened to be standing right beside me and he told me that it's very easy to fog up at the villa during this hour because we are 1.5km above sea level. Hence, sunset is not commonly seen. Just as I was about to leave, I saw some silhouettes and shapes slowly unveiling out of the corner of my eye. I quickly wiped out my 70-200 and the rest is history :)

(Oh yah, I tried to call the rest but apparently they had went straight to the villa because they were dead tired from the day's waterfall hikings lol. So morale of the story - never rest until the sun had set! ;p)

The Four Compatriots

3 thought we are on a vacation trip. 1 thought we are on a photography trip. Thus begins our tug of war in Bali :bsmilie:

Awesome bunch! Haha. At least we all made it back alive and safely :D

Diary of a Real Farmer

The 5 of us went to Bali expecting amazing views of paddy fields like Vietnam's. Well, let's just say all of us should do more research before we went :-)

For some of us mountain tortoises (or maybe it's just me), the paddy fields in this trip were the first paddy fields in our lives. Hence I was a little disappointed on how commercially irritating the Tegalalang Rice Terrace had become. There is the entrance fee, checkpoint A (where you have to pay $1.50 SGD), checkpoint B (another $1.50...), and checkpoint C (another $1.50...) before you can finish walking the entire *tiny* field. Not to mention the little kids haunting you on buying their postcards and farmers asking for tips before they start working.

This farmer however, really stood out from the rest. He didn't ask for tips. In fact, he didn't give a dang about the world and the people around him, and just went about his business. He's probably the only real farmer I saw there. That really left an impression on me. Thumbs up for this guy, man.

Equal

Uluwatu Temple, Bali. This place is flooded with people! Same goes for South Bali in general, where everywhere is people and cars. Being 2 days before Hari Raya, the traffic was terrible. We nearly didn't make it in time through the snailing traffic. What was supposed to be a 2 hours journey became 3 hours, thus had no choice but to skip dinner in the process. But thankfully, this is an easy shot to take; not much walking or climbing or awkward angles heh.

Speaking of the shot, when I first saw this composition in Google images, I thought it was done on some secluded cliffs or some something. This shows that I had completely underestimated the commercialisation capability of humans :-| So we had to buy the tickets, step on a nice walkway, and walk along with an IT-Fair worthy crowd (hey at least they build a nice walkway haha) before the shot is off :)

Heavenly Falls

Sekumpul Waterfall, Bali. The most impressive and beautiful waterfall in Bali is also the toughest to shoot. After waddling through the rapids, the area where the waterfall resides is no more than 30m in diameter. The waterfall itself is pretty tall in comparison, about 100m. Imagine water falling from a height of 100m and you are standing right in the impact zone! The droplets and splashing from the crashing is insane :S

In fact, there are so much droplets that the lens turned completely watery in less than a second and it took a mixture of continuous wiping and prayer in order to get a shot off. Right there, at that moment, I discovered a newfound respect for Terence Lee's waterfall shots :bsmilie: Honesty, I have absolutely no idea how that crazy fellow managed to keep the front element clean
