Thank You wiz23!
Have been busy lately....sigh...
It's Singapore's National Day today! Happy 41st Birthday to my country! Went down to Jurong Bird Park with my sis, bro in law and my nieces. A really tiring walk! A morning exercise I guess. Actually we were quite disappointed because it's so crowded!!!! We could hardly take pictures of birds...couldn't see them too...maybe frightened by the presence of too many humans!

Brought my camera along. Didn't manage to take many pictures as my battery died.. Oh no!!!...and I couldn't find the charger...guess I have to get a new one!!!!!!!!! ....
.
Anyway, took ir shots...this is one of them...(Remember...NO BIRDS!:bsmilie: )

Hi Kurarensu,
Thank You for the comments. I'm a newbie too....We'll learn from each other. IR is infrared. Thus IR photography means you are taking pictures using only the infrared light. This can be achieved by buying an an ir filter that will block away all other spectrum except for the IR light (which is above 700nm).

1) First of all you must ensure that your camera is capable of capturing IR.

2)Also ensure that your lens is able to capture IR without causing hotspots. (hotspot is something like a circular reddish/orangy spot in the middle of your shot) Do avoid these lenses.

Below is the thread that list down cameras and lenses that are capable of capturing IR shots.

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=183234

3)Once ok, you are required to get an IR filter (an example is Hoya R72)

4) Customise your white balance before shooting. On how to do so follow the link below:

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=185046

5) The picture that you see is edited. You must edit your photo. For me I'm using photoshop. Click on the link below and follow the instruction starting from no. 6 (no. 1-5 can be a repetition):

It's good that there are stickies/instructions in the forum. Credits to contributors like Max 2.8, teerex and Pablo... :)

I hope that helps Kurarensu.

Fireworks festival is something for Singaporeans to look out for every year (even tourists). Spanning from a week before to a week after National Day itself, this event further accentuate the already bustling city.

So I decided to get a few shots of it...It's my first time taking shots of fireworks...Anyway, reached there at about 8.15pm (it started at 9 sharp). By then all the good spots are taken up! So no good spot plus I don't even know where the fireworks display will be! By the way, you can almost see the huge crowd on that bridge ahead!

So i just aimed at a general direction and when the whole thing started...my cam is at the wrong direction anddddddd my lens is not wide enough!!!! AAArghhhh...

So i quickly changed to my Peleng 8mm fisheye which i just got from US recently and this is the best that I can get...:embrass:.......Wrong angle...Will try again next year (if I have the opportunity)...

The rest are just night shots taken using Peleng 8mm lens...basically I'm in love with this new lens!!!!... Not that sharp...but will do for the price (at the moment when budget is tight! LOL)!

Wow, Nazri, both your fireworks shots as well as your night scenes are fantastic! The only nitpick is that the lights on the bridge in the first pic are slightly over ...

Thanks Wiz23! Now that you've mentioned it...yeah ...guess you're right! Will take note of this the next time. Shutter should not be too slow...in this case...I was using bulb mode...Should have taken note of how long I've open the shutter! Thanks for the pointers wiz23! :)

Busy as usual...decided to take a break and manage to capture this yesterday...It was raining and mum placed about 6 pails outside (the usual practice of trying to get free water in order to reduce our bills :bsmilie: ). Grabbed my cam and captured this..

Nice shot! Personally, would have liked it better if the splash was not so near the rim ... But, as I always say, it's subjective lah ;p
