My Z3 hang on me

This is how you check your firmware version:

On your camera
press menu button
go to Setup #1
press the macro button

Your firmware will be shown.

My Z3 has 1.01e firmware and so far I tried all the situation where other members Z3 hang (e.g. timer, switching evf, and tried manual, A, P, S settings all OK) But I do find the bottom of the battery compartment a bit warm to the touch.

Hang again 2 days ago, i just released the battery but the time and date is still there. no need to reset heheheeh.

Anyway I play with it everynite since bought it 1st day in comex, till now only hang twice.

can you describe the situation how your camera hang? I want also to test my cam if it will hang.

Perhaps I should bring it down for an update. Even if it still hangs, not resetting the date is a cool "feature" :bsmilie:

tHIS IS NOT A GOOD SIGN!!! :embrass: Looks like there is a need for a new update from Minolta or else they are going to haunted by complaints from Z3 users.

Just this evening when I was out shooting at the esplanade, the damned Z3 hang three times and made me miss a shot of a red sunbird resting on a branch :cry:. It also had problem focusing. I think it's time to head down to Minolta Service Centre :angry: .

Try making progressive shots (continuous shots) like ten in a row and see if it hangs. Try this four to five times. If no hang, then you are HENG!!! . If hang....

Firmware 1.01u, which is what shipped with camera 2 weeks ago (I think this is from some of the first batch to make it to the US).

Apart from the hang issue, I personally think the pictures are pretty good. Sharp and saturated. Tried night shots handholding the camera at 1/15, the AS sure works fine. What's your impression of the picture quality so far?

The AS sure works great!
It won't replace the tripod but the below shot was taken at 1/8 (+ steady hands ) and it turns out sharp... the background is overexposed though.

i got my A1 hang twice before when i pointed it directly to the sun for less than 15 seconds.

since that, i dont dare to point my cam to the sun for long.....

Suggest you check with Minolta for new firmware upgrades.
