The King Tiger tank introduced in early 1944 was the most powerful tank used during World War 2. With a 88mm gun and an almost impenetrable front armour, it was one of the most feared weapons up to the end of the war as the allies do not have any effective means to counter this tank at all at this stage of the war.

The King Tiger was a big and heavy tank requiring skilled drivers. The tank commander communicates with the driver through the tank's internal telephone system .

In WW2 media the King Tiger (Tiger II) is often portrayed as a slow, lumbering behemoth that took up valuable resources that would have been better spent on smaller tanks. Despite being a heavy tank, the King Tiger was as fast as the Panther tank and faster than all other German AFVs. In reality it was a very capable, potent fighting machine with a proven combat record of success.








The King Tiger is often singled out as a fuel hog and this criticism does has some basis though - it consumes up to 4.9 l/km at a time when fuel was in short supply for the Germans. This tank however ended up being a great motivator for the German people by making them believe they were still in the war. It truly was a wonderful invention, and a marvel in the past, but still today.

In December 16, 1944, Adolf Hitler launched an audacious counterattack against Allied forces in the freezing Ardennes Forest in southern Belgium and Luxembourg. In the subsequent Battle of the Bulge the American defenders were caught off guard as more than 250,000 German troops and hundreds of tanks descended on their positions. Some 80,000 G.I.s were killed, captured or wounded—more than in any battle in U.S. history.

A fingerpost (sometimes referred to as a guide post) is a traditional type of sign post consisting of a post with one or more arms – known as fingers – pointing in the direction of travel to places named on the fingers to give guidance for road users.

The posts have traditionally been made from cast iron or wood, with poles painted in black, white or grey and fingers with black letters on a white background, often including distance information in miles or kilometers.

The K-ration originally came packed in an unbleached tan-colored rectangular cardstock box with black lettering. The outer box was printed on its top in bold capital block letters : "US ARMY FIELD RATION K", with the meal unit type with a capital letter on each end (B, D, or S) i.e. BREAKFAST, DINNER, or SUPPER UNIT

The K-ration was an individual daily combat food ration originally intended and issued to US airborne troops, tank corps, motorcycle couriers, and other mobile forces for short durations in WW2. The K-ration provided three separately boxed meal units: breakfast, dinner (lunch) and supper (dinner). While it was intended that the three meals be eaten in their named order, they were not always consumed in this manner on the battlefield.
