I have not tested a portable lightbox studio kit. I started using a SOFT-BOX or TENT but find the figures "lifeless" as it makes the picture flat with no shadows. You know the trick is to get some shadows to show "depth" - my setup of ikea lamps allows me to move and position as required to get this.

See this figure - the arm, newspaper, water bottle - all has some shadows. The portable lightbox studio kit is one or two light sources at most - my setup uses 5 lamps position

However my setup works fine only for small subject of 54mm (up to 100mm)

(PRINCIPLE - Light source must be greater than the subject to get soft shadows)
