Ray you're so talented i hope you can submit both an article and the photo essay :) we'd love to feature your afpak shots! Anyways it's as simple as just laying out the shots on one of our pages, just a brief intro and let the pics do the talking!

Nice shots bro, you got to have courage going there.

I'm loving every shot!! I hope my upcoming Iran trip produces shots which are at least half as good as yours. :)

jyasin, i am so envious. i travel fairly often to paskistan and thought about going to iran via the pk border or to buy air-tickets to tehran. let me know when you are going, i might be tempted.

The problem with the safety of going to these countries is one issue...another issue is when u travel to countries like US or Aust or anywhere, showing a chop from these countries like Iran or Afghanistan, might get a fair bit of queries...and checking...

Even if you're chinese? Ray, nice pictures. I don't think I could go to such a place... parents would probably make noise... and I would be a bundle of nerves while I'm there (assuming I ever go there)

Hi Felix, my birthday present to myself for this year is to see the sunrise at Persepolis on my birthday. Every year during my birthday, I make it a point to be at a UNESCO Heritage site, and this year it's Iran! It'll be in April, which I heard from an Iranian is the best time to go there. And Air Asia is flying Kuala Lumpur - Tehran for less than $700 SGD! How not to go!! I was actually planning to do Pak-Afghan, retrace a bit of my ancestral roots, but I'd need to quit my job to do it la.. :)

When I went to Israel, they do not actually stamp in your passport, but on your immigration card, because Muslim countries, even Indonesia, do not allow Israeli stamps on arriving visitors' passports. And you'd be surprised to know that it's not the Americans or Aussies who gave me a hard time with such stamps, but the Israeli Border Immigration. Even though Singaporeans don't even need visas to enter Israel.. But that's a story for the next kopi session ;)

Wow, you're going to Iran! I am so envious, Iran is one of my dream destination, especially the old cities of Shiraz and Persepolis.

U guys really make me so envious!

Also Yazd and Isfahan! Isfahan is truly amazing. If you only had time to see one city in Iran, that would be it.

And if you visit Persepolis, you also gotta visit the other two famous "P"s of the middle east, Palmrya in Syria and Petra in Jordan :)

amazing series. really enjoyed!!!

really curious to know what kind of visa you had? business related? is it even possible for tourists to visit?

You're right, I forgot about Isfahan, it's all on THE list though (which is getting longer everyday...). Actually, I might have a chance to go to Iran for work this year, the trip would take me to Teheran, Chabahar, Jask and Bandar Abbas. In fact, I have been to Iran once before but it was only for 12 hours in the port of Chabahar...

I've done Petra and Amman, and I gotta say that Jordanians are some of the best-looking people! I didn't know where to look! Ruins, men, men, ruins

And I'm planning to do a roundabout of Tehran-Esfahan-Shiraz-Yazd-Tehran. I gotta see the Khajoo Bridge, and also the singing which is done under.. And the mosques..
