My Rangefinder Romance

After my first RF which is a Polaroid 420, I moved on to a Konica Auto S. Really loved and enjoyed every moment of Rf shooting

Now i would really like to move on to an interchangeable system, i really love the bessa R2a but i cant seem to make up my mind between this and the manual version. Its framelines are 35-50-90-75 right?

Considering that i plan to upgrade to a leica MP in the VERY distant future ( I hope =X ) , would i be able to use the bessa's lenses on the MP? I tried
looking at the official leica site and the SG one to search for the MP's framelines and couldnt find any. Im sure they share the same mount, its just the frame lines that worries me haha! Silly question i know but i cant find any info on it on google. And i really love all the equipment i acquire so i really can't bear to let go of my bessa or anything for a leica. I get emotionally attached to my equipment so i really dont wanna let go of anything like lenses or bodies. Im pretty sure some of you will understand =)

Is is also possible to use the same lenses on a m3/4 camera like the ep2? As i could borrow it from my brother, all i need is an adapter and a focusing
screen right?

Sorry for all the noob questions cause i couldnt bring up enough courage to go into chiif to ask for more information as I'm still saving up for a Bessa,
not really nice to be asking so many questions when i dont intend to buy anything on that day.

Looking forward to meeting more of the RF community too! Cant find time to join the meetups as im a student with a weekend job =(

Alamak! Chiif is not going to eat you. If you need to go to him for a chit chat, GO!

In any case, the R2A/M uses M mount. Thus any M-mount lens can mount on the R2/3/4, Zeiss Ikon ZM and the Leica M bodies.

Chi Fei won't eat you, he will only eat your money once you step into his poison lair.;)

To add on, all leica M mount lenses can be mounted on m4/3 format, here's a link to pics taken with this setup.

Enjoy.

The prob w m mount lens on m4/3 is de crop factor x2..i bought it once ended up not used to it..n its pretty slow to focus on de screen especially for streets..
I suggest u get either r2a/m or r3a/m depending on de frame lines u preferred n get some ltm or m mount lenses to shoot w first..
2nd hand mkt has alot at affordable prices if u r tight on budget..
N prices of r2a n m doesnt fluctuate much in de mkt..so buy one to try..if don like..den sell it off or trade for de manual version..

The lenses you for buy for Bessa are either LTM screw mount or M mount. They will fit Leica MP. (LTM need an adaptor).

Manual Bessa ! The more manual your camera the more you learn hah

Don't scared of Chiif. Chiif is passionate about cameras, he is not the typical camera salesman, (ie he is not like the ah pek type sit on stool and only talk to you if you buy something.) As long as you visit him during hours where he not so busy (or if you make prior appt) he will teach you many things wan.

I'm actually leaning to the R3m for the viewfinder and its mechanical shutter, most of my film slrs work without batteries and i shoot mostly manual anyway. I dont have any digital cameras other than the ep2 that belongs to my brother. thanks everyone! Will go over to chiif's when i drop by to get some Polaroid film next wk! Hows the battery like on the auto bessa? If they last like most film cameras i would consider getting them as the auto mode comes in handy sometimes and i can always go back to manual if i needed it.

If you must shoot it on the EP-2, get the evf2. it helps a great deal with manual focus lenses!

I really like the R3A/M for the 1:1, just like the Canon P

AE is good when you're in the lazy mode!

You might want to see what is your favourite focal length. The R3 does not have 35mm frame lines because of the 1x VF. R2 does have 35mm frame lines, i think it is a 0.72x VF. Chiif is a good place to go and a nice person to talk to. :)

Im going to try out the r2 and r3 before deciding to see how diff the mag actually is, but im planning to get either a 40mm for r3, a 50mm for r2 and buy a 15mm with an external vf. at least for now... So many things i want omg *Posioned*

The only 50 from Voigtlander is the 50/1.1. Unless you buy a used 50/1.5 or some of the older LTM lenses, like the Canon 50/1.4, or the Voigtlander 50/2.5.

R3M + 35mm ext VF, and you are set

The 1:1 is a great feeling.

I see, im actually very keen on the 40mm 1.4 nokton. ARGGGH so many many choices
