I have been trying Bokeh shots... i can achieve for plants and flowers but not successful for shooting people... any advice?

SX10 is available also there's a "better" version the SX1 (wider LCD screen, HD video, higher fps and RAW mode)

I read reviews about SX1 and they are not so flattering. They say that the cheaper one, is actually more worth it.
The last time I checked, SX10 IS was going for nearly $700. I wonder how much isit now.

about $690 @ Harvey Norman if u pay cash... $700++ if by other means.

got mine for $699 at HN abt 3 months back (cash)

don't think the price drop much since it's still quite a recent release and is currently the biggest zoom (20x) in the powershot series.

Maybe wait a bit more. S5 was released in May 07, the S10 release in Sep 08
Maybe Dec replacement will be released.

isnt the sx1 the replacement for sx10?

i see people buying the lensmate 58mm filter adapter and using 58mm filters... why not just use 52mm filters? any advise from sx10 users?

anyone bought 52mm filter and manage to attached on the SX1 or SX10? I read somewhere that it does not fit. Anyone have any solution for fitting filter on the SX1 or SX10? I just got my SX1 today and wana get a filter to protect the lens.

i am using Hoya 52mm UV filter and just got a Tokina CPL 2 days back... works fine~

Went to AP and Cathy Photo yesterday think of buying it, but was told that SX10IS have stop production, now i think need to wait for SX20IS or get SX1IS....

I jus bought e SX10 for my gf..and it was great..cos she dont wan to carry a DSLR as she say my 400D is too heavy.,,When we went to J8 BEST, we are looking at either SX1 or SX10(which is e last copy and is a display set). After we went back home do some homework and SX10 is a better deal cos they still give us 10% discount off the retail price. So for the price we paid, we get alot of thing from the camera and lots of free gift.8pc of recharger batt with charger etc.not a bad deal..the zoom is great..Nw my bro is also look for a cam, i will intro him to get the SX1IS as the SX10IS is not more in production.,,.

thanks Tunge for the info... i read up and it sounds like a good deal with the CDHK... shall contemplate on whether to try or not in case it voids warranty...

i have been trying to take Bokeh shots but unsuccessful... anyone can advise? i have tried to zoom a little and aperture is @ 3.5. still cant get the effect...

I've tried successfully on plants as well, but not on human, since the smaller sensor of a prosumer compare to DSLR, will not able to produce bokeh, unless your subject very close to your camera (lens), and the back ground very far away, which is when the macro mode (shooting plants).

Replacement should be the SX20IS. SX1IS seems not getting good review in DPreview, compare to SX10IS.

I checked with MS, AP and Cathy all got no stock, ended go for SX1IS:cry:

SX1IS isn't that bad, it can shoot raw and HD video.
But next time can keep in mind, TK sometimes got older stock, where other shops already finish selling but they still have.
