many places mentioned ... debut in December '08

even Canon Japan website say so...

I dun think you can see it coming in November..

I sent enquiry to check on stock availablitiy ... all say the same thing .... DEcember it is

Update:

For the SX10 IS, Canon Singapore is now giving away 4 x AA GP ReCyko batteries plus charger, in addition to the 8GB SDHC card. Much better than the previous GP charger plus batteries given away. Wasted, I did not get this freebie.

Yesterday just check the price at Alan Photo, the sales person quote me 684... with the gift as mentioned above (AA batteries and 8GB SDHC card)

Suspect will drop more during CITEX....

From my experience, camera prices are not cheaper at IT shows. Most of the time, they are sold at higher listed prices. But you may get all sorts of freebies.

I bought from sitex b4.... be careful abt some dealers example a**** h****. 1st, not only r the freebies not v useful example... card reader...cleaning kit....2nd, they will give u short listed in the list of freebies..... u need to settle down in a corner to go thru wat u should receive den go back to them to claim the "missing" freebies if anything missing. Personally, I think a screen protector, camera case, tripod, memory card and 2nd batt r the impt items.

Hope to see more SX10 users posting pics here... I m awaiting SX1 to see how the CMOS chip make a difference but I have a feeling I might b disappointed if I m asking for a big difference in quality and performance. Can I ask the SX10 users how long ur cam takes to "recharge" after a single shot b4 ready to take next shot.... be it with and without flash? My S8000fd was a slow performer:eek:.

Was wondering what tripod u r using for the SX10 IS (please forgive if this question seems studpid)? would be great if u could let us know the price.
Is it better to use Canon's own tripod?

Due to the Image Stabiliser (IS) which works very well for me, I rarely use the tripod. Still, I always carry along my Canon mini-tripod in my camera bag, which was given by Canon free previously. I also have a cheap Nikon tripod. But I am not an expert on tripod. Best to ask those pros who regularly use tripods for certain types of shots. But for normal usage, I don't think any brand of tripod matters.

anyone to post more pics of this cam? waiting to see... ;p

I almost feel like giving up my 450D and downgrade to SX10.....

Got my SX10 just 2 days ago. Really excited about it. So far the camera is great and packed with features!

Thought it was time to upgrade my G3 (yes! 5yrs old but still working well).....its amazing that SX 10 is packed with 20x optical zoom, great interface, fast focusing....and super sharp images..plus plenty other cool features. all for the price of S$769nett (RRP by canon)
I got it at harvey norman which they also gave 2 x 8GB cards, battery pack + Charger, tripod, case, card reader, screen protector......

Its sometimes scary to think how technology advances at lower prices than before. my G3 cost $1200 back then. I hope the SX 10 is build to last as well.

I was of course also comparing the SX1 which just came in. but decided i didnt need to pay $200+ more just for HD video recording and CMOS. And the G10 which actually looked really cool and compact but is now positioned more as a "serious" sophisticated camera with RAW and more megapixels (no fun stuff like the 20x zoom, swivel screen...haha)

whatever the SX10 have is more than required for the average photography fan :)

Bought my Canon SX10 IS, 2 days back at Audio House for $695. Bought it from a nice guy called Wayne
Accessories (after lots of bargaining and cost cutting):
- 1x 8GB SDHC Kingston card
- 4x AA GP Recyko batteries plus charger
- 2.5" LCD screen protector
- Cleaning kit with lens solution

took away the tripod and camera bag

Next: Going to buy the 58mm lens filter adapter from Lensmate, the lens cap with tether, and the Hoya UV Black lens filter

The 8GB SDHC and 4 AAs plus charger is part of the Canon promo.

is the max shutter speed for SX10 15 seconds only? anyway to make it longeR?

if u install CDHK, u can customise the SX10 for longer exposure...

CDHK adds extra features to ur camera, including RAW mode

google CDHK and read up for more details

thanks Tunge for the info... i read up and it sounds like a good deal with the CDHK... shall contemplate on whether to try or not in case it voids warranty...

i have been trying to take Bokeh shots but unsuccessful... anyone can advise? i have tried to zoom a little and aperture is @ 3.5. still cant get the effect...
