My PowerShot S5 IS

quess wat!?! make a horrible mistake taking shots of fireworks using fast shuuter speed...caught lots of "nice" shots but jus couldn't...well wasn't satified at all with them. Wat mode do ur usually use during fireworks occasions...jah i dun want to spoil another time! (dun say fireworks mode)

Turn your mode dial to M, aperture put to f/8 (no choice as that's the max) and shutter speed put to 2 secs.

There's no cable release for the S5 IS so no choice, have to manually trigger off which will cause camera shakes.

And most imptly, use a tripod.

Agree, can also use timer as to avoid manual shake. Etc, I use custom timer, 2 second for 3-6 images. No shake & higher chances of better fireworks quality and pic choices.

I went to Comex and get the BBB virus again.. Wanna get the Nikon D80 or D60, skali the D80 with the cheaper lens option sold out, then bought the D60. Hehe!

Why not keep it, as a back up camera or something u wanna carry around lightweight when u dont feel like lugging around your dslr gear?

Intending to get converter lens soon but indecisive whether to get original or 3rd party
I noticed tat alot of u are using Raynox converter lens rather than d canon original.
From the lensmateonline website, I can understand y some of u choose DCR6600PRO over WC DC58A
But when I compare DCR 1540PRO to TC-DC58B, other than 1.54x vs 1.5x (small diff?) n it has a filter thread in front (which may cause vignetting), I dont understand y it's better than TC-DC58B, not to mention that DCR1540PRO vignetting begin at 202mm.
Can anybody experience with the converter lens pls adv?

For ordering through lensmateonline, is it tat once the postage goods exceed sgd$400, it will attract GST chrg? is there any other custom chrg?

Anyway, I'm intending to get myself a DSLR too perhaps by the end of this year. Will be keeping S5IS as a backup camera or pass it 2 my wife coz seems like she's also like me starting to slowly pick up photography.

I was at the Fireworks Festival 2008 recently. Prior to shooting any pics, I actually did some research online and got some tips from the gd pple here.

I muz say that my pics r not very nice but for a 1st try at a fireworks event, quite ok liao (will post some pics soon).

Anyway, thru all my research, a tripod is a MUST if u wanna avoid noisey or unclear pics. UnfortunATELY our camera do not have the bulb mode unlike the dslrs so it takes some luck n pre adjustments to ur camera to get some decent shots.

I used the (M) mode, aperture at f/8 & shutter speed at 2 secs. During the shots, i used the customed timer to 2 secs and continous 3 shot at a time. Also, I swtiched off the IS mode when taking the pics.
