My PowerShot S5 IS

hey guys....its great to knw there's so many people using S5....i'm a proud owner too!! just abit disappointed to know that there are MIJ S5...mine is sadly MIC :cry:....

i am planning to get original canon adaptor, hood and wide angle len BUT where do i go??? shops like Bally Photo and Alan Photo are constantly mentioned on the thread, but are there any other shops that sells original sets??

Congratulations on your S5 and hope u have much fun as I do with mine.

Personally I have no worries whether it is MIJ or MIC.. Coz why? It's warrantied under official Canon SG. Thats to me matters most. Mine is MIC btw.

I bought the lens adaptor and wide angle converter at Canon Shop at Vivocity (opp GV). I paid a hefty price tho, maybe u should check out the shops listed and maybe get at a lesser price. Or u can do a bit more research and check out other 3rd party converters which performs better than the Canon ones..

hey....Thank you prodigic!! but i went to vivocity...they told me to go to authorized dealers...and i been searching around....but i think i will go to funan and search the whole building again and hope someone has the original set.....

BTW i used the older version Canon S3IS camera.

I don't face any vignetting when using the original WA conversion lens and quality is still very gd at wide-angles. But when zoomed to the max, quality does degrade a bit and is more vulnerable to CA.

U may want to buy from Cathay Photo but are more expensive.

hey....thanks for all the info...i got the original adapter, hood and wide angle last night from funan...i went to all the shops and most of them only have third party sets....

Cost of adapter with hood set - $48.
Cost of wide-angle conversion lens - $180.

That's the price i got when i bought it last year.

hey there....Song Brothers was the only one that has original sets so i went back to them....they quoted me $245 for the wide angle and $55 for adapter and hood...which i find it RIDICULOUS!!! and i got the sales guy to give me "discount" and i paid $250 for all...not so bad..but i was hoping to get cheaper....its ok tho....and bally photo wanted to sell me a different model wide angle...i think they think i didnt do my research!!!

omg i gotta agree with Snoweagle that they had overcharged ya man! (based on the price given by Snoweagle when he got his stuffs) So sickening hor that these people trying to cheat consumers.

I was hoping to get the sets from Canon itself but they told me to go to authorized dealers.

sometimes we just have to sacrifice. i gonna get a bigger cam soon....and i aint gonna go to those shops in funan and SLS....lol....better go to honest shops and pay abit more. atleast dont feel so cheated...

if i may share my opinion. having used both the a650 and s5, i would say that the picture quality for both cameras are about the same. obviously since they both share the same lens, the same sensor, and have similar feature sets such as the the vari-angle screen, etc. and if i really nitpick, the a570 gives less noise for the same shot. do you agree?

the prices are taken from amazon.com. vpost shipping would be approximately s$25. and further discounts if using uob credit card

s5 = us$300
a570 = us$136

I got my stuffs from Bally Photo Funan leh, the price i quoted is the exact price i got last year.
