u mean there wasn't any added freebies from MS itself? just wondering whether
to buy from other stores cause the price is higher but they give more stuff like a tripod and
1more sd card plus the one from Canon.

Actually it's a matter of preference. I already have decent tripod, so no need another.

Anyway the S5 is really a perfect upgrade for my A80. Having fun with it. Maybe another year or two, I will be ready for DSLR :D

Emirates,

Just buy the camera from any store at the cheapest price and get the standard freebies which Canon Singapore gives: 2GB SD, Canon digital kit bag and AA rechargeable kit. If you think you are getting a much better deal when offered one extra SD, just note that 1GB normal SD is only about $14 and 2GB normal SD is only about $31.

I thought your family felt the S5 was not compact enough? You should also look at the SX100IS. It has almost the same features as the S5IS, except that it does not have hotshoe, swivel LCD and has less 2x zoom. But the lens retracts into the body completely and it looks compact enough to me. And it is much cheaper. Made in Japan too!

Hi Tucksoon,
just wanna know what were the stuff/freebies that came along with it
and is it true that the S5 has a weak flash??
regards,
emirates

I am not sure where you read that the S5 has a weak flash. Of course, the built-in flash cannot be compared to an external unit. But in its class, the S5 has a fairly powerful built-in flash. My experience is that it is powerful enough for me almost all the time. There were only a few rare occassions when the built-in flash was not powerful enough to reach the other end of the hall, but then again, when I mounted my 430EX external flash, it was also not powerful enough. My opinion is that the S5 flash is not weak at all.

Actually we really cannot expect too much from built-in flashes as they've limited usages. Externals are the way to go if u want more creativity in flash photography.

does anyone have a gallery of photos taken with the S5 ? just wan to take a look ... thanks ..

I took this pic in super macro mode (do note my setup has a wide-conversion lens so even in super macro mode it's not too close), ISO 400 without flash on a cloudy day. With the IS on continuous mode, it really helps a lot.

Normal will do. High-speed ones are usually critical for fast still continuous shooting and transferring of data to computer via a high-speed card reader.

thanks for answering all my queries .. I will try to go do some shooting over the weekend and hopefully can post some pics for some advise . Thanks :)
