My PowerShot S5 IS

Anybody use a 3rd party ETTL flash with your S5 IS? In most modes, except Manual, the picture looks much brighter with the built-in flash instead ?! Both comparison with flash set at mid (0) setting.
In Manual mode, when I tried full power for both internal and external flash, the external flash much brighter by a far margin.

sadly none of us caught the BBB virus like you-- yet.

BTW, anyone have done the SD RAW hack for S5. which is the simplest tutorial that i can find? need it urgent

S5IS does not support E-TTL. Guess you will need to play around with the exposure settings.

My mistake, it supports E-TTL if you use Canon Speedlights.

For tripods the words good and cheap are normally not uttered together! :bsmilie:

If you want a normal flash, go for those that can give you a bounce head at least.

They do have some decent ones.

One question, do you plan to get a bigger or heavier camera? If not, then it is fine to get a tripod that can hold up to 1.5 kg in weight. That should cover the S5IS, flash and tripod head easily.

My mistake, it supports E-TTL if you use Canon Speedlights.

Hmm.. but the flash is design for Canon E-TTL/2 systems & state compatibilty with S5 IS, with 5 pins at the bottom. Maybe I have to try Canon flash units to see if got any differences.

y dun get kingston or Sandisk SD??better IMHO...for tripod AP quoted me $65 for a SLIK one..but dunno which model..

ehhe i dont know just grab and go.last minute purchases. going KL tomorrow.

bought the SD cause its just a spare one to install the CHDK hack.trying the 64 secs long exposure tomorrow in KL.
if i can grab hold an ND filter better

Read in other forums that it can be used. But since 8gb is fat32, personally not really sure can use or not. Better buy 2 sets of 4gb cards. So if spoil, at least got another 4gb standby, not 1 shot 8gb lost data.
