firstly, i think u meant the adapter, not the hood right? well, there's raynox online too. Or you can get the original canon one (if they ever wanna produce) which comes with a hood. 52mm adapters are infamous for their vignetting, so personal recommendation is 58mm, and WA converters are 58mm (mostly).

For filters, UVfilter is just mainly for protection sake. For polarizers, u gotta decide what kind of photos you take more often, cause it would just piss u off if u more interested in lowlightings scenes since it reduces the light entering ur camera.

oh, snoweagle, do correct me if im wrong :P been a long time since i've did dis :P

The 52mm adapters and filters only vignet as the S5 IS is supposed to use 58mm so stopping down definitely will cause vignetting, so nothing to do with 52mm sizes are famous for vignetting.

UV filters are not mainly for protection sake, but those MC protectors do. UVs are used to filter off UV rays from the sun and into your sensor when u take a pic.

Polarizers do not actually reduce that much light, they're used to reduce reflections and enhance colours such as the sky.

S5 IS users,

Was at CSC to check whether can they repair my A95. The cost of repair came out to be more than $200 to change the sensor and repair zoom mechanism. They have also make an offer of $555 to trade in for a S5 IS with a 4 gb SD card and battery and battery charger.

Is it worth to trade in?

Will that be a new S5IS or a refurbished one?

Well, if it is brand new, then I would say it is worth the trade-in. Because even after the $200 repair, you will never know what else will fail after that. With S5IS, you will be getting a pretty good camera and the 1 year (1 yr 3 mths if register online) warranty.

Selling my WA lens , do pm me if anyone interested. Thanks ;)

Is it safe to leave the batteries in the camera all the time? Or do u guys actually remove them after shooting? I'm not in favour of opening/closing the lid cos am so so worried that I'll break it (am paranoid!).. But on the other hand, am also worried that the batteries may just decide to leak one fine day

For my S5 IS, i remove them. For my DSLR, i keep them inside.

I've been using my S5 quite regularly. And I'm using rechargeable batts. So far so good for me.

omg k im a noob.

how do i change my shutter speed?
i cant see how to make my shutter speed slower :(

and also

how come my camera cannot shoot the continuous mode despite all efforts trying :(:dunno:

think ur camera is on Auto mood.

U can adjust ur shuttle speed either under "Tv" shutter mood. or manual.

added you on flickr. btw like wanna make the water smooth, must slower the shutter speed right. but tv mode will be inappropriate.whats the real technique?

do you know how to have the continous shooting mode?

Why would it be inappropriate?

Add some milo to the water.

Smooth water? TV mode is correct. 1 thing that may override your shutter speed may be because you activated the safety shift function and the scene is just too bright (See Pg67 of the advanced manual). If you really want to make your water 'silky smooth' :bsmilie: you have to use ND filters to darken the scene.

For continuous shooting, press the button just behind the shutter button (The silver one you press to shoot) and select the icon with 3 squares. Then, press AND HOLD for as long as you want to shoot :) (Pg46-47 of the advanced manual)

guys, i need help again. i wanna buy lens hood, can the S5 IS don a lens hood?

where can i get one and how much?

Secondly, i wanna buy additional accessories like lens, converter, filters all?
Does anyone have a list of SUITABLE addons for the cam so i can survey on? thanks.

i may sound bimbotic but the S5 IS boasts which of the lens thread 58mm is it?

so when searching for 3rd party extensions, which detail must we really look out for?

Just buy the originals. LAH-DC20 adapter and hood set and WC-DC58A wide-conversion lens and around $48 and $180 respectively.

Yes the thread is 58mm but if u add on the conversion lens, u can't add on a filter.
