nice! thanks for sharing. but i think the question everyone has issss: HOWWW MUCHHHHH? :bsmilie:

i'd look around for this yday... mostly around 340-360 fr Alan / John / Bally / Cathay (area - Funan/PP) BUT all sold out, no date when the next shipment will be in. Hope this time we don't have another round of demonstration in Tahiland lor

It's either they didn't get enough stock in the 1st time round, or too many people are dashing for it... Is it really that popular? :p

Lords quoted $390 yesterday but no stock.

It is a lens with a normal angle of view for DX and having AF-S means the D40/D40X/D60 users would finally have a fast lens at a considerably lower price which can AF.

D90 users like me who would use it primarily to shoot photos as well as videos of my kid would welcome the normal angle of view and also finally have a fast lens which can AF and not needing to switch to MF for videos because it has the M/A clutch. I'm staying away from Sigma 30/1.4 because it's expensive and there may be front/back focus issues like the 24/1.8 I'm using even after calibration.

There is a high likelyhood that I will get one if the price is under $350.

I see...i heard somewhere that sigma 30/1.4 is rather big and much heavier.

I'm planning to get one too, after prices drop more :D

interested in this lens too! here are the MTF charts from Photozone (compared with other primes).

I am tempted to buy a D40 + 35 1.8 already :)

A light and beautiful set ;)

Is it just me or is the focus really out for her face?

But yeah the bokeh is sweeet!

Hey all i've gotten lots of feedback saying this lens is not suitable for portraits... is it true??? if so then what purpose would this lens be good for? apart from the sweet bokeh hahaha

Check out ths thread http://www.flickr.com/groups/d40slr/discuss/72157615633938222/. Might help to clear up the misconception on which lenses are "suitable" or "unsuitable" for portraits...

tt bokeh is super sweet

Nice shot of the bokeh but it falls slightly short of my expectations. Still I think it's a good lens to have if one has no immediate plans to go FX.

Hi guys,

Do read up on Joe McNally, he changed the world of portraiture by using wide angle lens. So who says Wide angle is not suitable for portrait?hahha :bsmilie:

Anyway, Nikon AF-S 35mm f/1.8 is really a good buy at such a cost.

Will be getting mine soon ;)

Cheers!
