haha my 400DX pan head also broke after it drop while it was on standing position when i was sleeping inside the train ... heard the replacement is abt $20 from cp for the tap but i ended up getting a manfrotto 488RC2 ball head once and for all :)

Haa... thought i was the only one experiencing this. :bsmilie: Just got a 330DX and same as you S11loop, dropped it while it was on standing position.

The lever is too fragile and too expensive to replace. Went to MS and was told the ballheads were all out. Need to wait, think will head to CP to get one.

anyone has a pic of the 484RC ballhead?

Bring your receipt from CP when u go change. I recommend tripod brands such as Gitzo or Manfrotto as they are of better quality and a lot more durable. Go for those which have interchangeable heads too.
Hmmmm I recall recently someone broke his manfrotto just 1 day after purchase.. ended up he was selling the legs seperately coz there was no hope for it.. LOL it all boils down to luck..

On the topic of tripods, can have a little OT onto tripod heads?
I am thinking of changing the "standard" head on my Slik 300DX to a ball head. Dropped the head quite a few times, but cuz it is made like a tank, it survived my numerous drops. But than, it was alittle hard to adjust. So, thinking of getting a "easier" to adjust ball head.
I was at CS and TCW yesterday. The TCW uncle showed mi a Brenco as part of my education to the difference between a $50 ball head and a $400+ ball head. I was really impressed.
Then went to CP and saw a Gitzo head, pretty nice, not too big, can hold 5kg and the price was quite reasonable. 150+/-, including a QR plate.
What do you guys look out for in a ball head?

I've also tried out the GITZO ball head at CP. It looks good to me. But I am still unsure of switching from pan head to ball head.

The Manfrotto ballheads ones are gd enough le.
