i love the first shot, the bnw processing really accentuates the lovely patterns and lines, not to mention it being the first night version of the shot i've seen(though it isn't much).

Really love #1. I think the interplay of light and shadow is fantastic. What is in the background there in the upper left - lights in the distance? Not sure if I like that, or would have preferred it blacked out. :D

first time i hear someone calls it toblerone.
:bsmilie:

Hmm... #1 is nice. I agree the B&W conversion do makes it look nice.

However, i am not sure if you have cropped the shot, i would prefer the lower left to be shown.

The cut off seems a bit hmmm, not smooth to the eye.

Or maybe you can frame your shot lower to show more and less of the dark sky.

As for the rest, i think you open your shutter for too long, seems a bit blown. Reduce a few more seconds and i think it will be nicer.

Nevetheless, good 1st attempt. ;)

thread moved to Night Photography.

got faked!
i thought there was really tolberone!

i like no3. :)
very sharp.

thanks folks for the feedback. will definitely try to have my 2nd attempt soon.

to KPang -> the lights in the distance i think its the sky.

to yapster -> i didn't crop the pics. this is the original size. infact, i wanted to show more of the sky so thats what u are seeing now. i didn't take too much pic of esplanade shell. will try to shoot more from different angle the next round ;) is there any recommended shutter speed for nightshoot? or its pretty much just play around with it.

btw, what is spelled wrongly ?? *cannot find, blurz*

to dingzyangz -> actually i've shot almost 50+ pics on the skyline and this is considered the best but still not quite there yet. think i'll make another attempt on the same spot. i'm sure it can be even better.

and catcha! i hated durian... thought toblerone is more atas. i mean it does looks like one isn't it?! keke.

THANKs folks! very happy with the many feedback! its important for a new comer.

Ah, i suppose you are shooting at a focal length of 17 or 18mm? Maybe can try out some 10-12mm on a UWA~ (BBB!)

Seriously your angle is kinda unique and this is why i pretty like it. Just the wideness of the shot la. A little nitpick nia.

Hmm, depends on how bring your object is. I am not a pro in night shoot. I basically trial and error. Nightshoot is fun in that sense when you just need to set and press. But, it can be boring too, when you are waiting for like 30 secs? So nightshoot with friends is a must for me. These are some of my attempts.

30 sec exposure

3 sec exposure

0.333 sec exposure

5 sec exposure

#3 and #4 are taken from auto shutter speed set by the camera cos i shot in Aperture Priority mode. #2 is by trial and error. For #1, i followed some settings from some night shots i've seen.

And, err, paiseh, i was the one who got the spelling wrong. Hehe. Paiseh paiseh. I removed that comment liao.

was doing a quick nightshoot yesterday at this HDB overlooking nicole highway and kallang, but again was a completely failure. somehow all the pics came out blur when its on the computer. haizz must read more and try harder!

of course i would love to have the wide angle lens ( its next on my shopping list) but it cost leh uncle! i dun wanna kenna the BBB virus.

saw the nightshoots you were trying to explain over the shutter speed thingy. i will try that.

and its ok, coz i always spell wrongly, so i didn't suspect a thing.

adigos.
