As a photographer, street photography has always been my passion. It captures the essence of the moment, unrehearsed, and full of emotion.
But as many people just starting photography, I fell into the pitfall of thinking that photography = DSLR. Until one day, when I was shooting street with a friend of mine who had a hanimex rangefinder, I was amazed by the level of anonymity and unobtrusiveness he had shooting with one.
So I decided to do some research of my own, and watched a few videos (one of them being Street Photography: Documenting the Human Condition) and soon enough, I had my mind (and my student's wallet) set on buying a rangefinder for myself.
So here it is.
I bought this from Mike (clubSNAP nick Hlkwee), a very pleasant guy. Unlike the usual pay-and-get-the-hell-out-of-there transactions that I previously encountered with CS members dealing with DSLR equipment, Mike made the buy/sell seem so personal. He even took the time to sit down and chat with me about his camera collection, and made the experience of buying a rangefinder a very pleasant (and less painful) one hahahahaha.
So kudos to Mike, and the nice people of RF.SG. I hope to get a lens for this baby and load some film into her soon, and I hope my foray into the world of rangefinder photography will be an awesome one.
