My first experience

Since you have just begun your RF journey, try not to let the gear get to your head. My personal experience with RF is that it gave me the opportunity to shoot more. Much more in fact.

You can always increase your collection in time, just pick and choose to your liking.:)

Benji77 thanks for your advise, and also the other bros who chipped in as well with their recommendations, very much appreciated.

wow the forum is alive! :cheergal:

I had the m8 briefly for 2 months *only*, sold it coz got no autofocus... while on the way back home, I slipped and fell down the slope, bought a full frame the next day... damn!

Always had one of the avenon 28/3.5 or Skopar 28/3.5 on the m8, sweet compact lenses!

Before I forget, welcome to the wonderful world of RF!

I love the way you describe your experience, btw are this avenon 28/3.5 or Skopar 28/3.5 found locally.

Yes you can find them, just that they are rare.

If u r willing to pay for them...it can be found :)

But i do agree that you should shoot more first...cos when you start buying..its never ending...

its a long journey, pace youself.

but I can talk only, I also slipped. darn the road was slippery.:)

try sliding and taking pictures.. then try other lenses, u slide faster... hahaha... enjoy. :)

Bro, just buy one more wide angle lens to combine with your portrait lens is enough to take most of the street's photos. Remember that any lens you choose must fix your M8 frame lines so that you are not off in your composition. cheers

Thanks again to all, after reading all your advise I am becoming very afraid to travel this road :bsmilie: anyway will slide slowly and carefully since there are so many of you bros giving me advise and holding my hand..

hahaha!! on a brighter note, the medical bills from a real fall could have been a lot higher!! ;)

... got myself a M8 with a Summicron-M 50mm f2.0 lens. Some photos taken recently, comments and critiques are welcome...
welcome to the world of RF. you already have an excellent pairing there, you can't go wrong with any of the summicrons. keep shooting and enjoy the journey, you will slowly explore different focal lengths, faster lenses, older lenses to see if they suite your "style" or complements your current setup, etc...

Hi Chris, nice photos. I was "excited" in seeing your post because I am also thinking hard about getting M8 to experience photo taking with RF camera. Almost pull the trigger at one stage but decided to hold back. Using Ricoh GXR M-mount now. One thing I am not sure is the use of IR filter. Are you using it on your M8? Is it a must?

Thanks for the sharing.

It is a must to avoid the magenta contamination problem. Not a must if you only do black and white photos. Your mileage may vary of course as it doesn't turn up in every picture. But consistency is probably what we are all aiming for.

haha welcome .. i myself have nv tried b4 rangefinders also.. i directly pulled the trigger to sell every of my dslr equip and bought m9 + 35 lux pre asph earlier this year. never regretted doing it so far.

the only thing i didnt like was the constant empty wallet/bank :x.
