Yes, in summer, these flowers are the 'must see'; in winter, it's the white trees; in spring, it's cherry blossoms, and in autumn, the changing colours of leaves/trees... :)

Some answers to questions asked by one of the CSers (freefall7).

1. When was the exact date when you was at Biei ?
11 Jul 2009

2. Do you think first week of Aug will be too late to see all those flower bloom ?
My sense is that most of the flowers will start to bloom in end June, bloom throughout July and starts to decline in early August. Maybe Sunflowers still around in August.

3. How was the weather like in Hokkaido during your trip ?
The weather like alternate day of good/fine and rainy days.

4. Was it too hot at Tokyo ?
Well, it feels like Singapore in Tokyo but less humid, in my own opinion.

:)

Beautiful pictures of Hokkaido, Henry!

I went in Dec 09 and had a cold but enjoyable time with my family. Funny, it was only -3 degrees C but it felt much colder.

I love the heavy snow in Otaru ... wet/downcast days but pretty romantic. Try the ice cream there.

Hi henrylim...

Thanks for your kind reply.

I am planning a trip between 26 July ~ 7 Aug this year.
Hope to visit Biei in late July and Hokuryu in early Aug..and later 1~2 in Tokyo.
I am struggling to plan for a time which is best to view Lavender in Biei, sunflower in Hokuryu and Disneyland in Tokyo
(too hot to queue in summer). Sigh...

Sounds like fun! -3 degrees sounds like freezing to me. I hope your family were in the right gears/clothes to "endure" the cold there. I think Otaru does get more romantic in the evening/night, and I can imagine the white scene of snow there... Maybe I go again when it is winter next time :) And the part about the ice-cream - yes! I agree the ice-cream there is delicious! :)

i love photo #63...nice composition..feels like a painting..;)

What a waste... none of the pictures are on line anymore.
Care to up them again?
