My AF doesn't work!! :(

my 18-55mm lens has been with me for 2 years already. Recently, out of a sudden, my AF doesn't seem to work. Does this happens to anyone of you? What's happening to my camera? What am I supposed to do? :(

it's like the lens AF motor cable spoilt already.. sell this in BNS and buy new one

Have you take this lens down to CSC to check. Determine what is the problem. Also before that happen, you could use that lens on another body (maybe your friend's camera) to check to see and determine if it was really the lens that has the problem.

Try another lens on your camera.

but the motor will eventually spoil or i did something then it spoilt? o.o
there are many reasons why the motor cable failed.. but to make sure you can try with other body or check with CSC

Its not a good idea to pass your problems to other people by selling the lens

Send to service center or buy a new one.

Err, before you do anything drastic, could you check the focus mode switch on your lens, and make sure it is not accidentally set to MF? (p33 of your EOS550D manual)

some ppl are looking for spoilt lens.. of course you have to sell as "spoilt lens" not passing problem to ppl.. :nono:

Ah.... didn't see it that way, got my assumption wrong, sorry about that:sweat:

Try to remove the lens from the body and clean the electrical contacts with a clean and dry cloth. You also need to be careful of getting dust in during the cleaning...

For a broken kit lens 18-55, I really doubt if anyone would want to buy it. Maybe $5 I might consider taking it... wait... 2nd thoughts, nah.

i dun think there's anyone gonna buy a spolit lens.....me eventually wont.....y dun you try to buy a 2nd hand one?it's much more cheaper and sometime the lens has just been used for several months....
but dun get sad by the spoilt motor, things will eventually spolit..sometimes there's no reeason, and sometime: "you are very unlucky".but if you just cant bear to let it go,use it as a manual focusing lens...hahaha;)
