Care to elaborate what you mean by 'prepared' first?

Which are the brands that need preparing?

I guess this is the answer:
"the way to get the Muvo to work with all CF cards is to do an image of your original 4gb drive and restore the image to the card that you want to use in the Muvo. It seems that all cards will work using this method." (quoted from forums.dpreview.com)

I have not tried it personally so can't confirm. (I tried with a SanDisk 512M and it worked fine though, no need to "prepare" anything.) Since the H**Box guy tried to offer a "service", unlikely that he would reveal his "trade secret" (ya, prove me wrong, quick ;) )

Come to think of it, the Angmors who first discovered this are more sincere in sharing.

coz we are smarter :D

If I told you I wrote a simple program to do the prep, you would ask me about the program. If I told you there are still bugs and need funds to R&D, would you sponsor? ;p It's about protecting the rights of intellect properties. Alot of companies will have to close down if they reveal their R&D to the world.

Until I have the abilities to resolve the issues and let it be shared as a freeware, I don't find the need to annouce it. :D

Oh, and for your info, the angmor didn't discover it. It has always been a 'known secret' in cre*tive which is home grown.

Maybe you ought to ask the angmor to do it for you. then? I'm sure they are as sincere as B*ll G*tes. heheheheeeeeeee

See, we have a "smart " $ervice provider here ;)
(But for such peanut, oso must talk R&D ah ?!! :dunno: )

ah, I guess you didn't understand my previous reply to you :D

If you have already read, I mentioned that the service is for those non techies to save them the trouble. Its not alot of money considered the trouble and work involved and I did provide a link for those who wish to do the mod themselves. I also bear all the risk in helping to buy a Muvo with the drive unsoldered, which is one thing that is stopping people from taking the step.

Those who PM-ed me asking for advise and who faced problems, I did not charge them $0.30/min but answered. They can justify this.

It's a service, not for free loaders. But for those who simply could not afford, I did offer to do it for them free. Probably I shouldn't do that anymore? :dunno:

Please do not doubt someone's integrity just because they want to charge for something you feel is not justifiable. Because of this mentality, alot of pro photographers don't earn as much as people keep wanting cheap and free services. This is not a good assumption to make. :nono:

:D

Oh, you can take it to PM if you are still unsatisfied with my answer or start a new thread. No point OT-ing. Thanks! :)

(since its peanuts, then why not you do it for them? :D )

I would. In fact, I have just done that for 2 friends, FOC . It's only a 10-min. effort and I am glad they are very happy with the thingy. It's the fun that counts, not after a few bucks :bsmilie:

For those who wanna try,

Detailed Instructions to Remove 4GB MD from Muvo2

Believe me, it's that easy

Hey Yogi,
helmetbox is free to offer a general service and quote a service charge if he sees fit. If you want to do it free for friends, power to you, but I don't see why you have to crash his thread. A doctor can provide free medical advice to his friends and family, but if he provides a service to the public he is entitled to charge for it. Maybe you'll do it free for me if I get one? Better yet, since you're such an altruist, absorb the cost of the MuVo as well. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

If they got a grudge against each other, just leave them to it. There's no need for 3rd parties to butt in. They seem to getting along just fine from what I have been observing.

BTW, bumjube/Sydney was the one who started this thread to share his experience of getting a bargain 4GB MD out of the Muvo2. I merely added on my experience of getting this thingy, in the spirit of sharing a LORBANG. OT, did I??

BTW, I would help anyone who could not follow the detailed instructions given in the link to get the thingy out. Of course, he must be at least polite and friendly when making a request :D

(How to use a CF1 to revive the Muvo? no big deal really...)

hmmm....... no one said it was a big deal. (You seem to be very bothered by it?) But it is good to know it can be done when everyone thinks it's impossible :D

hehe, as I found out, there are still people who are non techies and don't want to go through the trouble so I extend my invitation to you and you are more than welcome to join my thread to offer your free service. That way can help out more people :D I sincerely hope you consider this service for the community

So lets respect the thread starter and not bug this thread anymore but proceed here for further discussions

:D

i thought i would update people on the speed issue (or lack of speed) of the 4G microdrive.i have noticed in other forums that if you format the microdrive with 32k clusters then it is not slow anymore.

Well i just did that and i can tell you the speed differance is like night and day,it is still not a speed demon but now it is the same speed or maybe a little faster than my 1G microdrive.

at startup the access light is on for 5sec instead of 20+seconds from before and bringing up a photo review no longer takes an eternity.
:bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

I just rip off 4gb MD from my Muvo and put in my 128 scandisk CF without any problem.

what i do is when put the muvo with new 128 CF i just reload the firmware with USB cable.

noneed special program to do it.

but before that i remove the CF partition using disc management.

my 4gb waiting to put in to the D70 :D
but i feel that 128mb for MP3 is not enought ler.

512 is bare minimum for me. dont have one but getting one when my finances allow it. 128mb is like having 20~30 songs only. need more...more is good.
