I would think that no matter what the condition is, something which can't be mounted is not fit for sale. It won't even qualify as condition 1/10.

I agree. It must meet the minimun spec.. working condition unless it is stated somewhere that the item is faulty.

A binding agreement can be avoided if one party made material misrepresentions, whether through active expression or silence. Further, an item not conforming to description or not fit for purpose will give grounds for remedy under the Sale of Goods Act (haven't checked if it applies to ebay situations).

When we agree to buy an item, we always assume that it is in working condition unless the seller said so or the cost is way below the market value. If have the right to check and reject if the product is faulty. You don't have to pay him anything as he had agreed to deliver.

Good that you have checked.

 Good info for all of us.

btw, i won't bother about such dishonesty. Let her report to ebay, they dun ban people based on single sided accusations. Who knows, she'd be the one getting banned at the end of the day for being dishonest about the condition of her goods. If it needs an adaptor be mounted on a DSLR, there would be some manual or documentation saying so, ask her to prove it if you suspect that she is lying.
