Hi,

Just see if anyone here tried to use the Multi-Flash mode before? I read the manual and there is this table that I don't really understand. Can anyone enlighten me on this matter? It seems to be a long forgotten mode that exists on the flash.

Cheers,
Danny

U need a multi-flash controller first right? To be mounted on the hotshoe?

Nope, no need a flash controller. I think Minolta has phrase it rather misleading. What this mode supposed to do is to release a series of flashes. However, I still don't see anyone use this technique before on the web. The picture will turn out to be multiple exposure of movements.I was hoping someone had tried it out before.

Hiee...

Multiple -flash....well i some time used it for some fun shots....like multiple hand positions caught on one single frame...choose the right frequency, then do a rlflected lighting and preferable in a dark non reflective(low reflective) room....so that the background is dark.

Another one usage that i just learned while in Korea(on a documentary i watch) this week was this method can also be used in obtaining sharp photos of water droplets......(yet to try - if only i have a constant stream of water drops)
if the water droplet is constant at a certain frequency covered by the multi-strobe frequency, you can freeze the droplet for photography.

Have some examples from books showing how this method is used in catching sports strokes for golf,tennis,squash...where strobe photography can help capture progressive motion of the swing and strokes...

rgds,

Oh... I c, I have use that to shoot a person dancing, so you get a few different "pose". In fact you can use it to shoot anything moving and effectively combine a few different part of the action into 1 frame. Or you can use it as a modeling light :)

I use for that more often.. haa

Its not easily to use the multi-flash feature, at least not so straightward and convenient.

Frisky, how do you setup for the dancing shot?

Can't quite remember, it was quite a number of years back.
But it is a fairly big place, low light, on tripod. Something like 2 stop under for background and just set the flash to fire a number of times during the exposure.

The only time I tried was the 1st day I got my flash.. I did it with a bouncing ball. Everything is under controlled... except I've chosen a WHITE wall! :D

Thanks for the replies,guys!

I think I will try the mode later when I have a few shots left in my camera. I wanted to try to do something different, flash photography is like unchartered water here. There are so many functions that the flash offers, probably the TTL mode is what me and everyone is using mostly.
