MScolor service going down? Recall of my encounters...

I think most people will bring their camera to test out when they want to make lens purchases. What is so odd about this? :sweat:

Of course, you can ask them to provide you with a demo camera body to test the lens but they might not have the same model of camera that you are using.

Oh I didn't brought my cam that day, but I FEEL like buying lens. What is so odd about this? :sweat::sweat:

Im wasn't even asking for an antique body like D30 or even a 10D to just try to see if it can work properly. Properly -> Focusing correctly and Im happy to go.
 

i think even at $65 is rather expensive for an 8GB card no matter what brand, I bought my 8GB Kingston Elite Pro 133x half year ago at $34 at PC fair.

Since your expectation is so low, I would suggest you just buy the lens without testing. Go home and then test it to your hearts content. If there is anything you are not happy about, bring it back and ask for a 1-to-1 exchange. The shop do offer 1-to-1 exchange within 7 days.

Since your expectation is so high, I would assume you will test all your purchase at every shops before you actually pay. Stay there and test to your hearts contents too. If there is anything you are not happy about, can ask for the whole shops' stocks for trying. The shop do offer this service for you anyday.

If I'm going to spend hundreds on a lens, I'd want to make sure that it focuses and works well with my camera body before forking out the dough. No point if its sharp on a loaned body but not mine :dunno:
 

For most people, this is the basic SOP of bringing your own camera body to test and evaluate the lens before purchasing.

The lady at MSC is giving the correct information without fear and favour.

I also didn't feel very welcome.

I've been to Cathay Photo (Marina) and I find the sales people more pleasant and friendly. Although the prices at Cathay may be a bit higher, I think it's worth it to pay for customer service. After all, you can't expect to have the lowest price and good customer service. But it's wise to do your homework and check the prices first so that you know the general market price.

Speaking of getting quotes, most of the time I call quotes is an auntie answered my queries, very patience and nice. However there was once the young girl answer, she quote MSRP and slam the phone before I could continue. So naturally I did not buy from them for that lens.

As a result they lost business.

With MS it is best to deal with Florence.

for the good of us customers and for the surviva of the shop, who is the boss should have a good word with this young girl. God knows how many sales have been lost because her her pms
 

I thought I could let this die down by not replying or adding fire to this saga over the days but now I just gotten this email and it's way too much accusation.

From Florence email through muvouser,
"According to my main shop salesman he said he serve him for 2 hours and bring bown 4 set of S90 for him to ck..he is still not satisfact.so need to go hub to buy...as hub got more stock..."

"i dont know what kind of service he wants as my sales man already trying his best to serve. and spending so many hr with only 2 of them..although he is not feeling well that day..."

This is way too much...

1. I WAS NOT there for 2 hours.
2. I WAS NOT given 4 SETS OF S90 to CHECK.
3. I WANT A HONEST SERVICE.
4. He's sick, SO I"M SUPPOSE TO ACCEPT A DEAD PIXEL AND STUCK DUST CAMERA AND HIS LIES?

Florence, PLEASE REVIEW YOUR CCTV BEFORE ACCUSING YOUR CUSTOMERS. THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH. WHAT THE HELL.

6:11PM: At home, I dialed MSCOLOR asking for quote of S90. Offered $665.
6:14PM: I dialed to John 3:16 but no answer.
6:15PM: I dialed to John 3:16 but no answer.
6:16PM: I dialed to CSC regarding their buy back programme as S90 is offered there too. but line closed.
I stayed in AMK, so a drive there is 5 mins. and in between this, I'm in the shop. Please tell me how I took 2 hours in YOUR SHOP.
7:06PM: Got pissed with the service, I dialed to John 3:16 again but still no answer.
7:16PM: Decided to call CP for a quote.

Please get this RIGHT!
 

Hello fellow forumers! Just to share my personal experience, I had many pleasant shopping experiences at MS Color, regardless of whether its the AMK Hub branch or the S11 branch. My camera kit, additional lens and flash were all bought from MS Color. I think different people would have had encounters with different salespersons from a shop. Good or bad, I guessed what's more important is getting what u want at the end of the day. If the price or the service standards of one shop puts you off, there are definitely many others still to choose from.

Also, just to add on a little, I think the SOP of trying out the lens before purchasing at MS Color is good as well. While purchasing my 55-200, I did not know about that SOP hence I didn't bring my camera along. I was politely asked what camera model I was using and they immediately brought out their demo set for me to test out the lens. Well, at least I could try out and have a feel of what I'm purchasing, assuring I got what I want. :)

It is fair. Florence wrote to muvouser in response to TS's online complain. So posting Florence's reply here is fair.

OK. So now Florence is calling the TS a liar. It is getting more and more serious. TS has actually brought up some evidence contrary to Florence's claim. MSC/muvouser, what say you?

Well done MSC and myvouser, you are digging a deeper and deeper hole for yourselves. damn power. That's it, MSC will never be considered again for any of my future purchases. Good Luck!

Well, Florence may have been lied to by the Ah Pui guy who served TS.

I think if muvouser contacted Florence to inform her about the complaint from this forum and to clarify the incident and later Florence has replied by email to tell her side of the story, then it is normal to assume that Florence would expect muvouser to convey the reply back to the forum. For me, it is fair to have the email content disclosed here.

For damage control, it will be best if Florence or someone officially from MSC to come here and reply to TS directly on the rebuts. And if eventually it was found that TS is telling to truth, to offer an apologies and settle the incident. As of now, this is public relation nightmare as more and more people will join in to fan the fire.

I have seen Adorama and B&H customer service ambassadors come to this forum and others to provide clarifications, offer apologies or dispute claims of certain complaints in the forum. They offer helps to facilitate online purchases, offer apologies for lapse in customer service and rebuke wrongful accusations. All in all, they handle it in a very professional manner.

Perhaps MSC and other local photo stores can learn from them and come here to register with ClubSNAP?
