MP - misnomer?

I have been having 夜长梦多 about one topic.

Mechanical Perfection - Leica MP cannot be true to its name because its got a very annoying battery compartment!!

Does anyone share the view that Leica film bodies are better without the battery compartment and meter? I strongly feel the auto timer lever is more useful. True mechanical perfection must be 100% mechanical.

You muz check out the MP classic version then! they are apparently the only later made MPs with full mechanical parts without the battery compartment. Cheers.

It's a limited Ed but recently there are 2 sets going on sale at our local camera shop (without the matching BP 50 cron thou). I share the same sediments with the TS yet cannot justify to why shld I pay more for less? Our mod M4s with M3 levers in my own opinion are the closest to what the MP classic can offer. Heehee

I've gotten over the preoccupation with mechanical cameras thanks to this article.

I think its true that mechanical cameras are abit overhyped. The MP classic has a rather mixed reception on internet indeed. I won't mind getting it but for the price. I think a normal MP is cheaper, i rather wait for normal MP.

Ps btw that 2 mp classic sets been sitting there at least 3 months liao. Not recent. I think nowadays you want to buy MP as investment should get hammertone instead.

Guys, I think it is time too go out and shoot more instead of relying too much on what your read over the net. All cameras work for 99% of the kind of environment you are going to be in, be it mechanical or digital or whatever. Use what you are comfortable with. If using something new, get some practice with it before embarking on a trip of a lifetime and only then starting to use it. Generally it takes time to get used to different cameras.

Many of us who have more then one camera buys the 2nd to fulfill a want and not necessarily as need. I'm sure we have seen someone with all the gear but no idea and at the other end of the spectrum, someone with only one camera and lens shoot beautiful pictures.

Artspraken, you already have some lovely cameras and lenses in your possession, no need an excuse to buy more, just do it! Ha Ha!

I agree, that's why I prefer to use my M2 most of the time over M6.
The M2 also feels more solid and classic. I prefer the auto timer lever
over the meter. I'd consider the MP classic, but it is a rather steep slope ...
