motorised slider

Hi there,

I have a Varavon motorised slider.

The problem is that I bought a long one and it is heavy !

I intend to take it for traveling, so I intend to buy a shorter & lighter one. Hopefully it is not bulky but need to be motorised.

Any suggestion or recommendation ?

Thanks

I am using a Mymica slider 48 cm. I bought it to pair w my a7r. Tested it on a wedding. Works well.

I didn't buy the motorized component though. It's easy to buy it as an attachment later.

I have a 48 cm Konova for sale if you are interested?

where did you buy this Mymica ? Possible to buy from S'pore

or did you buy it from ebay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251529904506?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Does this US$398 includes the timelapse motor ? So this US$398 is a manual or motorised slider ?

From the picture, I am not sure whether it uses cable as a pulley to move the slider ? U think you can post a picture of how it moves the camera unit ? roller or cable ? Do you have any problem where the cable keeps coming off ? (I had this problem too often with the Varavon)

Ok, how much you are selling ? But does it use cable as a pulley to move ? My current varavon uses a cable but it always came off which made me had enough of this cable system ! Lousy design, really ...

Thanks

I don't have the motorized unit for the konova. I am looking to sell ard $250. Bought for about $320 w shipping. Knob is a little dented but does not affect tightening.

For the myrmica, my wife helped me order through taobao. Ard SGD $240 -260 including shipping. Did not buy the motorized unit. But what I understand, it works on a gear system. No pulley involved. Hence it doesn't really matter which length of track u have. I don't have it. But I think the downside is the torque or the gear isn't enough for heavy DSLR. Myrmica is also selling at Orient Photo. You can go down and take a look if u want? They offer warranty for their products.

Thanks JacePhoto for the tips.

I will go down to Orient Photo and have a look.

Just went down to OP.

The price at OP is way too expensive as compared to ebay ...

In the ebay purchase, I am supposed to provide the seller this information:

Motor(two kinds for option, please choose the type when place an order, or leave us messages with camera module, deliver default quick speed)
- Quick speed: 6V, 41cm stroke need 10s-1mins
- Slow speed: 6V 52cm stroke need 2mins and 30s~20mins

Is it better to choose the fast speed or slow speed one ?

Btw, is camera module = model number ?

And what is "deliver default quick speed" ?

Thanks

Hi Ryan,

As i didn't buy the motorized one, i have limited knowledge.

You are supposed to leave your camera model number so that they can supply you with the right cable to trigger your camera.

This Mymica model, unlike those high end ones like Konova, does not allow you to vary your speed. The default model is the quick speed one. I think the one in OP is the default model.

I think the quick speed one is good for video dolly movement. The slow one is good for time lapse. Also depends on the length that you want.

Taobao's here:
http://s.taobao.com/search?initiati...=1&stats_click=search_radio_all%3A1&q=Myrmica

Maybe you can get some colleague or female friends who shop on taobao to help you buy?

This is the one i bought:

Yeah but I think can vary the speed.

That's why I am in dilemma which one to get bcos I wanna do both ... :)

So I think maybe get a slow one and then speed up in post if wanna use for video movement ?

Walau, I dunno how to read leh ... :)

But 1,780 Yen is too cheap leh only SGD 21 ... some zeros are omitted ?

Maybe you can get some colleague or female friends who shop on taobao to help you buy?
dunno anyone leh ... :dunno::bsmilie:

cheers & thnaks

Been using a new motorized slider set bought locally, friendly UI and everything is packaged into a alu box with no wires lingering around. Impromptu setups were flawless.

But might be a abit pricey around $1600++, still a far cry from kesseler though..

Hope it helps -

I remb Rodney from Bamboo recommends the Genie also.

Personally i will be waiting for seven oak's timer at less than USD 70.

Quote from 'Newshooter', "They were also showing a more advanced device that seems to have features similar to the popular Syrp Genie. No price or release date was given."

Thanks. But this slider is not only expensive but it is also heavy leh ...

Yeah, I will buy it for USD 70 though it is nothing different in concept from the current cameslapse which is like a
"chicken timer"

But this cannot take the GH4, right ?

In my humble opinion, Genie is a high end sophisticated equipment. This one is just a motorized egg timer.

I think it shld be ok for small mirror less.

Mass order anyone? Haha

I contacted this seller to ask some questions but there is no response ... so does that mean he is no longer an active seller ? The link from ebay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251529904506?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Thanks

The great Sage Lao zi once said, "if eBay seller doesn't reply, wait."

Then again, the other grand philosopher Kong zi also said, "if there is no reply, knock again."

Haha. Have fun.

Ok count me in ...

Haha. Have fun.

But some unknown philosopher said "if no reply, try knocking at another door". I knocked at so many doors but only one replied ... the rest I think not in business liao ... so I will be purchasing from the one who replied ...

Cheers

To solve the problem of deciding whether to get a fast motor or slow motor, I contacted the seller and decided to buy both ... so much cheaper as compared against buying from a physical shop in S'pore (probably bcos the shop in S'pore need to pay rent amongst other things).

Cheers
