no thanks...I'll pass on this one. I rather dump in ineffective silica gels over this one.

Don't.

Mothballs are probably Naphthalene and Paradichlorobenzene.
The balls get smaller as the chemicals evaporate into fumes over time.
The chemicals are supposed to keep pests away.
They may be corrosive to your delicate camera equipment and the lenses/coatings.
If you don't believe, keep an expensive lens inside a sealed plastic bag with many mothballs for 6 months.
After 6 months take out your lens and check.

Have you told the fungus spores about the mothballs? If not, where shall the fungus know what to do? After all, fungus is not an insect.
Must be fun opening your bag somewhere indoors ... maybe not for those just next to you.

I think mothballs manufacturer guarantees camera damage for 12 months and a permanent smell in the camera bag with international warranty.
