Actually, I got the lens brochure from the Singapore Minolta showroom. I think the info inside the brochure should be about the same as that listed by Sulhan, but then again, it doesn't hurt to have more choices. :)

Thanks Sulhan. Any idea when is the new SSM lens and teleconverters coming in?

not really.... sulhan's url seems to have the whole kit & kaboodle. Well at least it has the (discontinued) 24-50/4 which i'm keeping a lookout for... i'll inspect it closer after i finish dinner & initial d... the minolta bruchures i stun from the msvc didn't list it :)

btw, if you guys had a choice between a brand new 24-50/4 and a brand new 24-85/3.5-4.5 which would you take?

Great Job Scouting Sulhan. Thanks for the effort, really appreciate it.

Ha Ha,shall i report you to the police about the stun?? :bsmilie: Anyway you all decide,24-50f4 uses 55mm filters, small size(slightly bigger than 50mm lens), close focusing at 0.35cm. 24-85f3.5-4.5 uses 62mm filters, bigger than 24-50f4, nearest focusing is 0.50cm. BTW, I'm using the 24-85 for wedding shoots and 24-50 for my personal shoots.......

Aiyoh dun like that lah, at least now I know what is a dynax 7 mah ;p

Ok thanks for the advice i think i'll need to try the lens first.

Hieee....

If you already have that "stunned" brochure(there is two brochure...one is the camera stuff and one is on the lens stuff.....i think the lens estimated release dates are in there....

Wah how come can focus so close huh? Macro lens ar??

BTW< my Tamron 24-135SP has the word macro written onm it. How to enable the macro? Or does the lens automatically enlarge stuff at the long end? Thanks!

very rarely such zooms have true 1:1 macro magnification. Most true macros are prime lens. That's why true macros cost a bomb!

Your Tamron lens probably can't achieve true 1:1 magnification. Go to Tamron homepage to see what is the maximum magnification. (according to Tamron homepage, macro magnification of your lens is 1:3.3)

The label 'macro' just means you have a short minimum focusing distance which you can do macro work. There is no switch you must turn on.

My 24-50f4 has no macro feature.the nice thing is i can compose pics with a strong foreground at 24mm focal length with close focusing at 0.35.....
