I am not very good at that. Do you mean a vertical crop with the eyes in the rule of 3rds?

Yes I agree. I waited there for 10 minutes but that is the maximum I could get the fellow to come out. Would try to get him out further next time

I'd like to see a horizontal crop, with the the eyes on the rule of thirds.
But that is just me.

As for the mantis shrimp shots, well alot of it depends on luck.

Nice pic. Could never bring myself to shoot these crtters:-

1) they look like cockroaches. i am petrified of cockroaches.
2) i aways think that any min., they will dart up, spear/strike my camera and that's the end of my lens/ u/w camera.....

Well, most housing are rated to 40M , which means about to take up to 5ATM of pressure. I doubt a shrimp is able to exert such force. Unless they are kamazaki shrimps. Think the poor shrimp will die doing so. ;)

Hi there sinker.. I am as well petrified of them :embrass: ,

However they don't attack, and they are soft bodied. We however are the ones that need to "look after them".

Hi fongwee,

Hope you don't mind me posting my pictures here, let me know if you want me to take it down.

This is what i'm talking about.

Donno about that. Was warned that they take out fingers of careless fishermen and cannot be kept in marine tanks because they break the glass panels. Anyway, I'm going OT.

Back to the pic of the mantis shrimp, I personally prefer it's > colourful cousin as it makes a better subject.

about Mantis Shrimp - there was a real story at Monteray Aquarium in California. They displayed one in one of their tanks and every other day, some fish just disappeared (as if no bodiies).....took them a while to realise that it was the mantis shrimp

No problem with the pic. Now I see what you mean.

the smashers which you see running around, is known to smash the port of the camera, causing it to flood.

the ones in the holes are spearers

hoho... waisj.. care to show that mantis shrimp pic of yrs?!!
